Doubt about Guitar

What is the difference between an electric and an acustic guitar?

Which are the good brands, which are the bad ones?

How to identify if a model is better than another while shopping?

How to know if a guitar is working perfectly when tested in the store?

What items are the most importante when buying a guitar?

For example, these guitars have the same value:

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Rogue-RR...28-i1543119.gc

What should I look to know if one is better than another?

From my questions above, it's clear I am totaly amateur in this subject and that I don't know how to play. I am willing to buy a guitar for casual use, I want to pay between $100-$200. I also want to usa it on the software Rocksmith 2014, plunging it to the pc without any extra devinces.

I'd like tips in this subject and suggestions, thank you.

Get an acoustic guitar first (Beginners). Make sure the strings are all in tune. You cannot hear which strings are out of tune unless you are experience ofc, so you have to buy an tuner. They are really cheap and easy to use, they are around £10. Also, make sure there is no buzzing sounds on the 1st string, 3rd fret, or on the 13th fret. (Ask the guy/woman who is serving you to test it)

Also, don't play with the pick at first, use your fingers first. Then when you are good and comfortable, use the pick ofc 🙂

When you are really comfortable, go buy an good quality (£500+) acoustic guitar. But don't get the electric guitars, they are wack (my personal experience), unless you want to hear what your playing on your headphones.

I play Piano and guitar. I recommend you play piano. It's easier and sounds WAY better than the guitar.

People aren't reading your post for some reason... Rocksmith means you need an electric guitar. But you still need to make sure you get the Rocksmith pack that includes the cable, not just the software.

I would not trust either of the guitars you posted. One of which is "short scaled" which you don't want. You want a full size. There are better brands that sell cheap guitars: Ibanez, Squier/Fender, Schecter, Epiphone are all good places to start

Go to the store and play them. Well, at least as close as you can get with never playing them before just to see how they feel. Each brand/guitar has a different feel and everybody has different tastes. The Fender/Squiers are generally very light and have thin necks, where as the Schecter I posted is quite a bit thicker and has some weight behind it... but I prefer having that solid feeling in the Schecter.

The pack lxskllr posted earlier is a good one, because it has the standard cheap Strat that almost everybody starts on as well as a functional amp for when you're not playing your game. Some other brands offer them too:

If you want to play electric music, starting with an acoustic guitar is stupid. The only similarity between them is 6 strings. Technique is different, and there's a whole repertoire of electric technique that can't be done on acoustic.

I've been playing guitar since 1986. If you want to play rock, don't learn on an acoustic. They are two different styles, and you should learn to play on both, but for starting, get what you want. You are going to be hard pressed to find a 'good' guitar for under 200, but for starting you don't really need 'good'. Get one that feels comfortable in your hands and holding w/ a strap, that you can push the strings down easily (not too high or too much tension) and doesn't buzz when you pick it. Many people fail at guitar by giving up too early, remember it takes time and dedication to get past the initial learning point.

I'd recommend this:

Maybe this for an amp:

My friend bought that amp above a few months ago, he just started learning to play. Sounds nice for it's size and price and provides a lot of variance in sound from clean to metal.

Also, get a case, guitar stand, extra strings, a tuner, a guitar strap, and a 20 foot or 25 foot cord.

Probably everything I listed above is about $500ish, and will get you everything to start rocking.

Most people give up thus it is safer to not spend too much at first 😎

So he'd have to get an acoustic-electric or a separate pickup, drown out the sound of the acoustic (which would be distracting for me, let alone someone new) and then he's still left with a guitar that can't play all the styles he wants.

See my post above 😎 but if he is really committed to learning to play, as opposed to play the game, then sure, spend the bux.

I buy that to an extent, but even on based on value you can get a better quality electric than you can acoustic for the same money, unless you get lucky. It takes more skill to build good sound into an acoustic guitar. An electric only has to be dimensionally correct, and the other factors are much more subtle. Besides, if he wants to play Hendrix, he might as well get an accordion, rather than an acoustic. They'd be equally satisfying to play.

Nah, As I said, it's going to be casual and I am willing to play rocksmith most of the time with the guitar, at least while I can't beat the most hardcore songs. And the price is really a problem, I will not spend much on it
