Unless you're runnning a server and want some kind of load balancing, you're unlikely to get any benefits from using multiple NICs.

No it won't. Ping in have more to do with latency than anything else. A dirty line (interference, EMI, etc.) would increase this. 15ms is fine and for all intents and purposes you won't see anything better.
Which NIC's support coupling (I have Realtek 8139's)?
How is it done on software-side? Is it then one virtual 200MBit channel?

RTL8139s are pretty much as cheap as you can get - Don't expect them to do anything fancy.
The intel Pro100 cards definitely support it under Win2K server, but I've never tried it with WinXP.
What are you going to do with that much bandwith anyway?
Do you currently have a 100mbps Hub then? a 100mbps Switch effectively runs at 200mbps because it's full duplex, could this not be an option, it would speed up the whole network.
Hubs and Switches can both run in Duplex mode if both NICs support it. Duplex doesnt give you a 200mbit pipe all of a sudden, it simply means that the PCs can transmit and receive at 100Mbit simoultaneously. This will allow 200mbit to be transmitted per second, but only 100 in each direction - it wont speed up one-way transfers significantly.
It will run as fast as the total number of nics you can put in both transfering machines.
Haven't tried it personally, but it looks very nice for large file transfer. Make sure you
have SCSI RAID array though. I have yet to see 33MB/sec, sustained throughput, with IDE.
