I'm an adult woman,it would be unrealistic of me to expect that a man close to my age to not have a sexual history of his own.I don't care about the past,I do care about how he treats me.

I was talking about if he had an extreme history...would that scare you off?

what if the guy had been with more like a dozen dozen women (a gross)???

Keep in mind that "close to my age" for most AT members is late teens to mid twenties. At that age there shouldn't be TOO much of a "sexual history."

A girl (since I'm a guy, obviously, not trying to further the standard that is the topic of this thread) my age (20) who has slept with a dozen guys is not someone I want to sleep with, because obviously she does not share my opinions & values on sex/relationships.

To me the number is not so crucial as how that number was obtained, if that makes sense.

I've never been long without a partner if I was at all inclined to date myself.A dude who's been out with a lot of different women obviously has attractive traits,he's also hopefully got a sense of what he wants/doesn't want in his relationships. As long as he's honest in his dealings with me it doesn't matter,oh and bonus points for a dude who doesn't bore me with the litany of the "biatch who done me wrong" song.

If you like them as a person, what difference does it make how many people they've slept with? What does it change about them? Personally, I not only don't care, but I don't want to know. It isn't important, what is important, as Geekbabe says, who cares about the past?
And everyone wonders why I like Geekbabe so much... :)

*hugs Geekbabe*

She is a very wise woman, we're lucky to have her here, and any man who ends up with her is lucky to have her.

As for sexual history, you're right, I don't care. So long as Thumper loves me now, is only with me now, I don't care if she slept with 50 men or 1 man.

That being said, there is nothing wrong with talking about it if you both want to. We have talked about past relationships and lovers to some extent, but mostly in the veil of getting to better know each other. We made a deal with each other that we would not hold anything in the past against one another, even if it was weird or strange. The past is the past, and doesn't matter.

Geekbabe is 43 if memory serves. As such, it is not unreasonable to think she might have slept with a dozen men. It is also not unreasonable to think that any man she might be with has slept with a dozen women.

I'm 27 years old, I had 6 sexual partners before Thumper. Hopefully, she is my last! :D

Fair enough, but you also have to give credit for the fact that maybe she has changed... If so, you can't hold her past experince against her.

No one should have to defend their history to their husband/wife. What was done before they got together is far less imporant than what they do while together.

What is of more interest to me is how a potential parnter conducts himself within his relationships and how he behaves when a relationship ends, everybody has relationships that end badly but if you can't look at what part you played in that and accept some responsibilty I consider you bad news to avoid.

You should get one of those special titles, like, "ATOT Relationship Expert" or something like that.

Admit it, this is some kind of litmus test to see if your significant other should join AT.

I've only had two partners -- my right hand and my left hand. Frankly sex is becoming very boring for me. I wish I was more flexible so I can use my foot...

I agree with viper here...

I dont call a woman who is 21 years old, and had several deep relationships, and had sex with those guys, a slut.... however if she had 12 or more at that age, it would appear she was more "sleeping around" than having relationships

There are those people who argue sex is just a physical act, and nothing more.... IMO that is the wrong way to look at it, because it means so much more.... but then again thats just me....

I have dated women in the past who were not virgins, and it wasnt an issue, and i have dated many who were "or at least claimed to be".

The only girl I would consider a slut, who was a virgin, was the 14 year old I dated when I was 16, who tried to get me to sleep with her shortly after dating her, and as soon as i broke up with her she had slept with a few different guys in a matter of a week.

anyway... i digress

I don't have a double standard. A slut is a slut, no matter what sex they are.

I like sluts -- I sometimes think, "if that girl slept with all those guys she hardly knew then maybe just maybe I could get lucky too!". I think that thought has crossed all our minds at one point or another....
