Forgive my ignorance, this is the first time I have attempted to build a computer. I purchased an OEM Athlon 950 from Compu-Terra, and it looks a bit odd to my novice eyes. The core, rather than being the charcoal grey of the images I have seen on the web, is surrounded by a small amount of pink putty, parts of which are flush with the height of the core. Is this normal and should I consider RMAing the processor before I even try it?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Edit:
Sorry, evidently this post did go through the first time.
My apologies for the double post.
