Double-disc jewel cases

For those who need double disc cases and have extra regular single disc cases laying around (as I do - curse my affinity for Verbatim DataLifes...), I just found these replacement trays that convert a standard jewel case into a double. At 75 for $19 (a bit over 25 cents each), they appear to be a bit cheaper than I could find double disc jewel cases for without buying several hundred - not to mention the reduced weight for shipping since it's just the tray and not the case, too. Anybody ever use them?

I had been going with XDR2.com for my double-disc case needs as they had the best prices I could find. But like I said, they're a few pennies higher for a similar quantity (though you do get the case itself and not just the tray), and shipping's a couple extra bucks, too, because of the extra weight. And they haven't updated their "monthly specials" page in what appears to be 2 months - made me a bit nervous. They appear to do the West coast computer show circuit, though
so those who don't live 1500 miles away might be able to walk out with a few cases of them saving $$ in shipping. Anyone recognize them? Are they still around and just not updating their specials?

Either beats the $.30+ each that most on-line places seem to want for less than 100 or the $1+ each that local record stores want for them. 😉

 
Here's the catch...you have to buy at least $40 or more to avoid a $4+ handling fee. :disgust: Kinda makes up for the shipping savings.

I just bought some 6-disc boxes a couple of weeks ago...those are good for archiving Enterprise SVCDs. 🙂 I've never checked their specials page, though, so I couldn't say what's on that. I usually don't bother with computer shows as mail order is usually cheaper and more reliable. (XDR2 isn't headed to Las Vegas anytime soon anyway.)

Nice spotting - I hadn't caught that. Thanks. Looks like XDR2 might be the way to go, then.

That price at Staples is much better than I'd seen locally (no Staples within 100 miles...), but would still need a $25 off $50 to be competitive after tax, even with free shipping. Target used to carry them 18+ months ago for about that price, but I haven't seen them there in ages. Office Depot/Max are both in the 10 for $10 range.

 
A regular CD case has plenty of room for two CDs, just no way to secure the second one.

Cyberguys has a neat little gadget they call the "CD STICK-IT" which is an adhesive-backed button that holds a CD. You can put one inside the lid of a standard CD case to hold the second CD, or stick one to the side of your monitor or ???

Search for "CD STICK-IT" or Item# 134 1152. Price is $9.95 for 50 plus inexpensive shipping.

Very cool! Hmmm. 12 packs of these plus an 8' x 12' wall plus 600 AOL CDs of varying designs = easily changeable "wallpaper" 🙂 Or put the Stick-its on the ceiling, turn the CDs shiny side out, and you've got a geek's ceiling mirror.
