Dothan Pentium M 1.4? SL7V5 stepping

I'm looking at a Pentium M 1.4, 2MB cache, 400 bus, stepping SL7V5 chip as a potential upgrade over my Celeron M in my notebook. When I google the stepping, I find mainly foreign language parts. I looked on Intel's site, and while there is no mainstream Pentium M 1.4 with 2 MB cache, there is a low volt 1.4 dothan/2MB part.

I have no idea if this part I'm looking at is some discontinued dothan, the low volt part, or some foreign-market only part.

That spec number doesn't even show up on intels website. There is a 1.4ghz 2mb cache with a SL7F3 spec number, but I couldn't find SL7V5. It's probably one of the odd ones that only goes to certain OEM's. I have an old 1.6ghz mobile Northwood thats spec ID isn't listed on Intel's website either. Go to proccessorfinder.intel.com to look it up if you want.

As stevty pointed out, I'd imagine this is an OEM part that wasn't distributed in retail channels. Unless its a good deal just get a 1.5-1.6 Dothan, you can probly find it under $100.

Celeron-M/1MB isn't that slow compared to same speed Dothan.

You might consider the pin-mod to 533FSB if its available to you (which is virtually gauranteed with a Celeron-M/1MB and lower speed Dothans).

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the advice, definitely. Actually, I'm looking to upgrade to a P-M from my dothan C-M 1.4 mainly for more battery life and the ability to play with undervolting (it sounds fun!). Any minimal speed gain I get in the process is an added bonus, so that's why I'm looking at getting the cheapest P-M dothan possible.
