Loved dota years ago, stopped playing, though. Maybe I'll pick up Dota 2 at some point when it comes out.

Ah, it's an open beta? I really haven't paid it any attention.

edit: Just noticed the survey.. actually kinda hard after not playing in a year or so. I started playing back in '06 I'd say and played for 3-4 years. Might make my survey results look pretty fake; I have no memory of ending gold, and I've played no games in the last week/months.

not a very good caster....too much yelling too fast when the energy doesn't truly exist, and they keep talking like they know exactly what the players are thinking.

They should take a cue from some of the more popular SC2 casters (Korean casters not withstanding...they'll yell at anything)

that's ok, i had only played maybe 10 times since '07 and got into the beta so who knows

I'm not a fan of this Tobi wan kid myself. But his co-caster is good at what you want.

You should see Luminous and Nebu1a casting.. very insightful just like what you want.

Submitted, we'll see. How's the dota 1 community now? Half the reason I quit was being it was getting too difficult to find consistent good pub games (I didn't have much time for clan gaming). Years ago I used to host all my own pub/banlist games, but after that went away I started playing less and less.

Dota 1 is a mod/custom map of Warcraft 3. It has dominated the Asia/Europe pro scene for many years.

Dota 2 is being developed by Valve, they hired the man behind Dota 1 (Icefrog) and it's currently in closed Beta. They only have about half the heroes and still ironing out lots of bugs.

There are lots of solid platforms outside of shit that is Battle.net.

Check out Dotalicious (google it). A very established community with ranking, strict punishment system for leavers/griefers/afkers/verbal abusers.

You can download the game and start playing now actually.

I'll have to go figure out where I put my WC3 zip and reinstall it. Will check it out this week.
 
bumping this because I got into the beta.. anyone who plays wanna PM me and play? Playing the pub games is awful, some of these people are so terrible it's a complete waste of time.
