Dot printer won't work under Win98

Hi! I got an dot printer (Star NB 24-10) which worked perfectly fine under Win95. Since I upgraded to Win98 it prints all messed up from every Windows application. It prints nice from DOS so I guess it's not a hardware problem. (I've tested it on several machines.) I emailed Star to send me a proper driver. They only had one for Win95 and said it should be OK for Win98 too. But unfortunately it didn't fix the problem. Has anyone had the same experience w/ old dot printers?

Been a while, but, maybe the following will help:

Driver is built into Win98, so, you shouldn't need to download one. You can try a 24pin IBM ProPrinter driver and/or a 24pin Epson Driver. Usually STAR printers are set to emulate one of those two.

If that doesn't work, you can check the "Spool Setting" button on the Details page. Make a note of the defaults and then try changing the other values, like, Print Directly to the printer and spool data format as RAW.

Oh yeah, you can try "Generic - Generic Text Only" to see if that gets you anywhere. If it still prints garbage with that driver you might have to adjust the LPT port settings.
