Does anyone know where I can purchase DOS. I am building a computer and I want the real thing not some frumpy emulator.

Good luck! I am not really sure were you can find a copy of DOS. I would try asking your local school's or even a private school, like a parochial school.

Other than that, I would search an auction site or something like that.

I am not sure but I think that in some parts of the world DOS is considered an obsolete software - and if you do steal it (and I AM NOT telling you to do so), no legal actions would be taken against you. - no one puts an ad about it, becose it is still illegal to steal but they won't throw you in jail either...

Just smth. I heard... AGAIN - DO NOT STEAL - and I take no responsability for your actions

We use DOS at work for some of the systems that we build. We're soon switching to Win98 for everything, but we still use DOS. I might be able to pick up some disks...

I always wanted to load up DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.11 again. Wonder how fast that would be on a gigahertz and a dual hd raid!

Not any faster than a pentium with 5400 RPM drives!

You can also get MS or PC dos at Egghead for around $60

Use a Win98 boot cd to sys a hard drive, and copy the x:\windows\command from a windows installation into the systems x:\dos. Add TSR's and path statements at will.

I use a DOS booting Zip disk or partition for Partition Magic usage on non-98 machines.

If you want it legally, post in fs/ft, offer $5 for someone to ship you DOS disks. IBM came out with a new DOS with Y2K fixes in it if you want to buy the latest one.
