DOS program prints slow in NT4 why?

A friend recently upgraded from windows 95 to NT 4. He has to use a DOS program and complaines that under NT 4 he has to wait almost 45 seconds for the first page to print. I guess under Win 95 it didn't do this. Is this a limitation of NT 4 or some configuration problem?

DOS program huh? There is NO DOS in Windows NT at all. NT has to convert all those commands though the command processor and send them through NT's Executive services....that's where it may take a little time.

DOS programs don't understand windows printers, so they send their info to an LPT port. So check the settings (under windows, not the BIOS setup) on the LPT port that your printer is bound to and make sure you're not waiting for the whole job to spool before you print.
