I'm running a machine with windows xp sp3 and trying to run a DOS program that one of my customers use for an auto repair shop but the display is not being matched to the desktop resolution.

How can i fix this?

if it runs in command prompt, right click the title bar and then go to properties then layout and see if that does what you need.

This.

Most LCD's (at least, the ones I've worked with) have options for scaling. You'll often find options to maintain 1:1 pixel ratio so that on a 1280x1024 display if you set the screen resolution to 640x480 it will just center the 640x480 area within the 1280x1024 panel and you'll have black bars. Another option will stretch it to fill the panel. Some of the higher end models have options to maintain aspect ratios too, so a 1280x720 image will be displayed with black bars on the top and bottom rather than stretching it horizontally to fill the entire screen.
