DOS boot from CD

Hi,

Is there any way of making a Bootable CD with DOS?

I was planning to make one with the BIOS updates of ASUS P4P800 Deluxe, and also to format and reinstall a clean windows on one PC with no drive in it.

Thanks

Interesting - DOS will not "see" a CD-ROM drive, until drivers are loaded. I wonder if this would be a problem.

My guess is that the BIOS controls the CD bootup; I think the CD drive is then seen as A:. I don't remember exactly though, as it's been a few months since I've booted from a CD.

if you use nero to create the bootable cd, then it asks you to insert a "bootable disk" in drive A: and it takes the files off the floppy and uses them to make the cd bootable

if the floppy has cdrom drivers installed then the bootable cd will boot to dos and the cdrom will work (it will be drive D: assuming you only have 1 harddrive)
if the floppy doesnt have cdrom drivers then once you boot the system then you still have access to the cdrom, but its A:

Booting to DOS.....next you'll want to compile and load the Netware 2.11 system driver disks...those were the days.......that really, really sucked. 😛

Erm ... I have nero 5.x.x (can't remember now from top of my head). Can you tell me the option to do this? I'm sure it's a simple option ... but I'm just missing 🙁

Thanks

as far as doing it with nero... i use nero express (version 5.5.10.28)

and i use the wizard to select "data cd" -> "bootable data disc"

easy as pie 🙂
