Doritos... I am disappoint

Nacho Cheese is the standard flavor here in America, Cool Ranch is a distant 2nd. If you can, find the kind that is cooked with Olestra (Oleans), fat free (save for possibly the cheese) and taste just as good.
Ahh, good old Olestra. Nothing like ripping your intestines out and wringing them until they bleed.

Anyhow - I decided to try the Spicy Sweet Chili Doritos. Epic Fail. They are neither spicy nor sweet. They simply have that artificial "hot" flavor to them that tastes similar to kerosene.

We just got "Third Degree Burn Habanero" Doritos in Connecticut, along with "Cease Fire" Pepsi Max with Lime soda to drink with it. Pretty cool combo... it works!

Just wait till you eat Nacho Cheese. The more you eat them, the harder it is to stop.

well.. there's your problem.

You're a Dorito's Newbie.

You need to start with Nacho Cheese.

Once you've become used to Nacho Cheese... then... and only then... can you possibly work your way up to Salsa.
Dammit I was tossing up in the store between nacho cheese and salsa. Looks like I made the wrong decision.

Yeah man, you have to try both Nacho Cheese and Cool Ranch, the two best standards.

Then move on to crazy stuff when you can't figure out what you really want one day. Things like Late Night Taco Flavor.

How can you say they just taste like regular tortilla chips? lol

Did they forget to put flavoring in your bag or something?
Lots of corn chip brands have flavour on them

I wouldn't even dick around with other flavors. I've tried a few of the other flavors over years... IMO Nacho and Cool Ranch are the only two worth eating.

I am also a stong supporter of the Spicy Nacho and PepperJack flavors. Also the Organic "white corn / white nacho cheese" that they used to make but for some reason dropped. Those were far and away the best Doritos.

Ranch is not bad either and is one of the better non-cheese flavors.

For the OP: The plain "Nacho Cheese" flavor is the original and the one most people are referring to when they generically speak of "Doritos". I've also found the original flavor goes extremely well with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a glass of milk.

When you reach the point in the evening when you determine that things ain't working out and there is no chance of getting laid, that's when you reach for the Doritos because Doritos breath will guarantee that you aren't getting laid any time soon.

nacho cheese was the third flavor at best. plain and taco came before it. plain is no longer sold (and with tostitos around that makes plenty of sense). neither is the original taco.

Their regular nacho ones are OK. I'm more a fan of the other flavors though.

I wish they would come out with 4 cheese again. The habanero ones were awesome too.

He thought you were comparing them to regular tortilla chips, i.e. nacho/salsa chips. I don't know what you call "corn chips" but here it's the stuff we dip into salsa and use for nachos (e.g. Tostitos). I don't think we have any other popular mass-market junk food chip tortillas.

The 3D cheddar cheese jalapeno ones ruled. They've since moved that flavor to jalapeno cheddar cheetos now. Which in turn rule.

DAMN. 3D Doritos were the total fucking shit. I loved those things, even if the excess amount of air in the package and chip jipped you.

I can't stand Doritos. They are one of the worst chips out there.

Martin, are you sure they are the same as the USA variety? You may have a different recipe. Aren't the NZ version of Cheerios sugar coated?
