Door edge guards

Anyone have experience with installing door edge guards like these on the bottom of a car door? https://www.amazon.com/WINUNITE-Guards-Universal-Rubber-Protection/dp/B07JMM66HB

My car doors are constantly running into curbs when opened since the car is lower, nearly always parallel parked, and curb cuts here are garbage. I read a few places saying don't install these because it will just collect dirt and sand and those will scratch your door just as bad as a scratch from hitting the door with the curb.

How much it collects would depend on whether it fits air/water tight (including the ends), if it doesn't use an adhesive liner, then you can remove and reinstall to clean once in a while.

I highly doubt that even filing it with sand yourself before installing, will scratch a door as much as a collision with concrete, but yes it could degrade the paint over time, and if you live in an area with salted winter roads, cause rust faster.

If your vehicle isn't black, I imagine it would look better to get something that's clear plastic, though depending on plastic type that might yellow from UV exposure.
