Since my fiance knows I like doom & games in general, she suprised me and took me to see the midnight showing last night. I ended up really enjoying myself, and got a free poster at the end. She's def. not the kindof person to see a movie like that, and i usually wait & see before i go to watch a movie i'm unsure about, but what she did meant alot to me.

I thought the movie was decent, all things considered. Funniest part tho was when the entire audience (probably 95% guys) 'perked' up when they saw the BFG, and a few other BFG-related moments.

I'll probably go against my better judgement and see it. I need a big, loud, dumb movie every now and then and haven't seen any for a while.

The bad reviews (at least the snippets) on RT aren't that bad.

I mean heck, if a quote labeled as rotten says, "Doom may be by the numbers,...but those numbers add up to the most cleverly engineered video-game movie made to date." or "...mainly works as a celebration of very big guns -- one guy walks around with what appears to be a rototiller -- and the sort of holes they can put in living flesh." then it can't be horrendous.

Rental. That said, In bet this movie will be pretty decent if all you want is tons of violence. I look forward to renting it.

The Rock made a hilarious PR swing on the Daily Show. Even if you doon't see the movie, check it out for much ROFLing.

That made me laugh

The reviews so far look rough, the muddled plot being the largest hole. Why oh why can't anyone take a solid idea and not butcher it beyond reason. Ugh.

Let's count the reasons it's a crappy movie no matter what:

1. It has The Rock in it.
2. It has The Rock in it.
3. It's about a forking Doom game. The story is always the same. It's hardly game-worthy; I'd hardly call it movie material.
4. Isn't it shown from first person?

Seriously. The Rock's massive capacity for idiocy (and horid acting...horid anything really, the man should be removed from the gene pool) + an already dumb storyline....it's Doomed (pun intended) to be another run-of-the-mill retarded action movie that relies on explosions to advance the plot. Going to see it is nothing short of a suicidal waste of money.

Did anybody expect a movie starring The Rock to garner good reviews?

I think Vin Diesel and The Rock should have a face-off to see who is the worse actor.

This is one of those movies which should be seen in a movie theater, or not seen at all.

Bad script, bad plot, bad actors . . . The only saving grace is special effects--best appreciated in movie theater.

well, if it means anything, Event Horizon only has a 19% rating, and it's one of my favorite movies....
