I actually loved Doom3. I liked it better than Half Life 2 (I know, blasphemy). Yes the flashlight thing was annoying, but that improved later in the game. It really immersed you in the experience more than other games IMO....it felt like you were actually "living" in a horror movie.

I loved some of the stuff that Doom 3 did. As annoying as fighting in the dark was, I loved the "oh shit" reaction you had when it was dark and you were getting attacked. I loved walking into rooms that were part of some dark ritual and having a creepy laugh and runes light up on the walls. I loved some of the random visions you got. Personally I would like if they didn't do the flashlight at all in the next game and just cut back the number of pitch black areas, maybe do more creepy lighting like most of BioShock.

Not only did they have Doom 3 on consoles, but the Xbox version was (debatably) better than the PC in terms of gameplay.

Yeah what the heck. I played through it on PC and then on Xbox. Why did I have more fun playing it on the Xbox?

Doom 3 was way over hyped, and not that good of a game, imo. All the perfect/almost perfect scores were not deserved.

Not very excited about this next Doom, unless its something new'ish and has better gameplay. Sadly, I wasted $50 on this, because they waited to put out a demo for months after the game came out, and all reviews said it was good. Wont happen again.. Ill just download it if they try that again.

The best Doom game was the original version for the PS1. Best music in any horror game...EVER. Ultra creepy...ambient...chilling.. The soundtrack changed the entire feel of the game.

Meh. I loved Doom, D2, Quake, Q2 and Q3, but IMHO id have lost it BIG TIME in recent years.

I actually liked Q4 too. I thought it was what Doom 3 should have been. My biggest problem with Doom 3 was all the stupid monster closets. The whole game was one long series of monsters jumping out of completely nonsensical cubby-holes in walls. Just came off as very cheap gameplay... cheap scares and cheap difficulty.

And the worse was the 3DO version. Couldnt even do full screen. Ug. What a POS that was.

I want those Doom 64 and Final Doom maps. Those maps were freaky! Limbo, temple of Babel, unholy citadel! Doom had maps that made the story and the atmosphere was the main character.

More focus on atmosphere.

Thanks NIN for the music in DOOM.

I always remember that big splash screen in DOS when you quit the shareware version... it would tell you how to buy the full version and it thanked TRENT REZNOR.
