No, shove it in your schools acorn 1987. that baby will flyyyyyyyyyyy.

carmack originally stated that he wanted it to be scalable enough to where you could run it on an original Geforce... as far as processor speed goes, im thinking nothing below probably 800mhz will be very enjoyable.

I really dont have much upgrading to do 🙂

Ill probably just swap out my video card
and by then ill have bought a barton 2500+ and will be running it at like 2.3ghz or so heheh...

It depends on what speed you want the game to run at and what level of image quality you want.

Realistically speaking the bare minimum for this game will be a GF3/8500 GPU with a 2 GHz processor and 512 MB RAM.

I ran the beta on my GF2 TI on a 1.2 tbird w/ 1 gig ram... it was preetttttyyyyyyy slow, like 0.25-10 fps depending on the scene, so you definately need something like a GF3 atleast 😉

Ok this is from toms hardware
They run a new demo Doom3
On P4 3.06 1024x768 32bit 60hz
At medium quality They say you will need the latest and greatest to really enjoy the eye candy.

R9800 Pro 256mb 68.7 fps
R9800 pro 128mb 68.0 fps
R9700 pro 128mb 60.8
R9600 pro 128mb 35.2 fps
R900 pro 128mb 20.0 fps
GF FX 5900 83.0 fps
GF FX 5800 81.1 fps
GF FX 5600 48.0 fps
GF FX 5200 27.7 fps
GF4 ti 4200 128mb 38.2 fps

If I remember right it supposed to work with ATi 8500 and GF3 cards, being the minimum that is.

Well, I guess I won't be getting that anytime soon....

Are you serious or was there sarcasm involved in that? Won't be getting an 8500 or GF3 card anytime soon?

<-------------- Confused?!@#$%^&*()

I think its going to require any Pentium 4, Northwood or Williamette, 256MB of RAM, and a GF3 or 8500 card. Maybe a P3 1ghz will fit into there barely if they really lower the quality for that speed.

I am pretty sure a P4 won't be required, and that it will also run on an Athlon based system 😉

I also think it's probably a little premature to speculate on exact specs, since the game is still a ways off. I am confident my PC will be able to play the game when it comes out.

[EDIT]Fixed formating[/EDIT]

I'm not even sure that id knows that for sure. If you want to upgrade your computer specifically for Doom 3, you'll need to wait until a couple of weeks before it comes out.

That's what I'd do.

Oh man... That's about what I have except for a better graphics card 😱.

Keep in mind that the specs I gave you probably won't provide a great gameplay experience. You'll probably be able to struggle through and finish the game but it probably won't be very pretty.

9700/9800 and 5800/5900 will do much better but the next generation R400 and NV40 cards will probably be required to truly experience the game how it was meant to be played.
