This game is so exciting I've been spending more and more time playing warcraft3. Still waiting for Vamp:masquerade and the first good hl2 mods to get at least into beta. Other than that it's a good thing that football is on cus most games these days blow pretty hard.

Why does everyone hate on the game so much. Yes the game depends on thriller tactics to make you jump, but they do so with a better immersion and environment setting than any horror movie I can think of! What did you expect? The game to tell you ghost stories until you were truly frightened and slept with the lights on?

I think the game is awesome. Lots of scripted events (HL sure got a lot of praise for them but I notice those same people bashing doom3) that are done incredibly well - I can think of a few parts of the game that are I are memorable moments and I have just begun the game.

Honestly the set up at the beginning that immerses you into the game was the best beginning I have ever played - You spend like 20 minutes without even having a weapon and I was already entertained!

XBoxLPU mentions a Farcry expansion but I beg the question WHY? That game was also repetitive and on top of that there werent any moments in that game that created any excitment. The voice acting in Farcry sounds like it was done for a highschool drama class or for a Serious Sam mod. Dont get me wrong I beat the game and loved the graphics but it didnt bring anything new to the table at all. The ending was worse than the text you would get when you beat Wolfenstien 3d.

Fay Cry's gameplay is far less repetitive then Doom 3. Maybe because you are actually outdoors most of the time with a good mixture of inside as well. The AI is not slow moving aliens or obvious teleport demons either.

I was quited excited in the level while you were trying to escape the building in the air vents etc.... very thrilling!

lol, id software is going to squeeze every bit of money out of this cow. sure, ssg is nice (beat weapon from doom series), but come on guys.

This just in from the Activision conference call. They're expecting the Doom 3 expansion pack (DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil ) to come out at the "end of the March quarter".

Obviously, id makes the call on this and the date is tenuous at best, but FYI...

While I enjoyed Far Cry and Call of Duty more, Doom III is still one of my fav shooters, so I will pick this expansion up.

Well, I do not play multiplayer Doom 3 a whole helluva lot (actually, only once), so my bad.

Well multiplayer does suck. Just like ID said it would.

Probably be fun in a couple years when cheap computers will be powerfull enough to play it at 120fps (well 60fps tops with the frame rate limit).

Doom3 was one of those things that were overhyped. I liked it, it rocked IMO, but no game could live up to what people were thinking it would be like.

I also thought that farcry was irritating and boring (I played it on my parent's computer I built for them. no windows for me. 😉 ), but most people here liked it. So to each their own.
 
Heres hoping the following occurs:

1. They open up maps to larger areas.
2. Masterminds
3. More badguys in an area
4. Masterminds
5. Masterminds

Umm... I think I'm forgetting something. Oh yea, pain elementals, DAMNIT!
 
ID so left out the DB shotgun from the original release so they could sell more copies of the expansion
 
This was pretty much done months ago, with all of that development time they clearly had more stuff than what was released in the doom3 retail version....still, I'll get it!
