The timedemo is worthless, its a horrible benchmark that doesnt equal system performance to real-time game playing, so why waste your time posting it?

I play on a 6800GT and I've beat the game twice, first on veteran and second on nightmare. I've explored as much as possible in this game and I had showFPS on the whole time. My timedemo score of 62fps at 1600x1200 8xAF pretty much represents how fast the game "felt" to me, maybe a bit slower because it would hover in the 30s in several places such as hell and big parts of delta labs. So no, CHIEF, it's not a waste of time. Have you even played through the game yet?

I hope that you dont think that i think more of you because you played through a video game twice? I dont think I am a big enough nerd to talk on this forum if that is the case. Yes i have played through the game, and I am still Firm that the benchmark does not indicate your framerate on real time play due to MANY variables.

This is also why i do not justify spending tons of money everytime a new video card comes out because your framerates are only slightly higher then mine and i have a GF FX 5700 Ultra DDR3, that cost me $90.

Just got done playing through a few levels of doom 3 and let me just say its awesome so far, now on to my video card. I just want to tell all the 5700 ultra bashers out there that my bfg 5700 Ultra plays doom3 smooth as silk at 1024x768 on high detail.

I could bump the resolution up more but I only have a 17 crt so there is no need. Does anyone else with a 5700 ultra play doom3 yet and if so how does it run for you?

Your the man now dog

OMG PWNED.

Seeing as the 5700U is 25-30% slower than a 9700PRO, I doubt it's very playable at 1024x768.

According to HardOCP your beloved 5700U is only playable at 800x600 at high quality. They don't know though; they only review computer hardware for a living.

I believe him. HardOCP says my system can only do 1024X768 high playable in Doom3 but I can bump up the resolution to 1280X1024 on my radeon 9800np and its fine. My timedemo is 26.9 fps, which seems low, but Doom3 is a slow paced game so it's fine.

You mean the ID brick right?

Who told you that? A salesman? :D

Har Har, look at some benchies, it does well at 1024 x 768 (In general), and after that, turns into a 5600 repeat, I need no salesman to draw my own conclusions ;)

awww thanks man :) (Doom 3 is the exception though, becasue I play that at 800 x 600 as well, if you were thinking I played it at 1024 x 768, I could see your reason for concern ;))

Can you guys tell me which one of these are better:

[Chaintech] Chaintech FX5700Ultra 128M DDR2 TV-o, DV-i, AGP8x retail - $250(cdn)
[eVGA] FX5700Ultra-128M : DDR AGP8x: 475mhz/900mhz - $225.00(cdn)

The Chaintech one is "DDR2", but i checked the eVGA site and it said that there 5700U is "DDR3". Does that mean its gddr3 or just simply ddr3? If its gddr3, then would the eVGA one be better then the chaintech one? It's also cheaper.

This is also another choice:

[MSI] FX5900XT-VTD128 128MB DDR AGP8x w/TV & VIVO - $279(cdn)

This would probably be better then the 5700U right? Also consider the overclocking on both cards as well.

P.S. I'm going to stick with nvidia cards, because i've had probs with ATI cards before and they dont seem to work well in 3d applications. Nvidia seems to be a more "safer" card.
