well, they were under such pressure to get the game out that there was no time for a demo...

but then again, it is pretty late after the game's release.

I believe it's SP only.

Sucks that I don't even meet the minimum requirements :(

Thanks to klah for the alert that the demo was available.

I tried it out for a while last night at 1024x768 w/high detail. There's certainly some fairly impressive technology and atmosphere in the game, but so far I doubt I'll be motivated to spend money on the full game before it hits the bargain bin. Mostly I'm just pleased that I finally have a computer that actually runs stuff like this fluidly, with no pauses or stuttering. At least the demo finally gave me a chance to find out exactly how much muscle my 2 1/2 month old system (listed in my .sig) has.

Not really. Sure it would have been nice to have a demo before the game was released, but now all those people who weren't sure if they wanted to spend the money on this game will get a chance to see if they like it and if their system can run it decently. I'm sure they will get a spike in sales from this.

i didn't mean that it was stupid for marketing and sales, as I'm sure this will help.

I meant stupid as in, the norm is to release the demo before releasing the game, so people can try it before they buy it.

I didn't think it would run very well on my 1.83Ghz Athlon, 768 RAM, Geforce4 MX, but it wasn't too bad on the lowest detail level. Still looked good and ran enough that it was playable.

The demo was short but the experience was fun... I was harder than I expected (or I just suck) but the sound and atmosphere were great. Weapons weren't too bad either. I'll most likely be getting the full version when I get the money.

Once people d/l the demo and play it for five minutes, they are going to be glad they didn't believe the hype and shell out the $50. Sales will definately not increase due to the demo release.

Guess I'm the exception to your rule eh?
