Doom 3 bundled with ATi cards at EB Games

I don't know if this is of any interest to anybody, but gamespot has a rumor report that says ATi will likely be bundling Doom 3 with some Radeon cards.

If only the performance was better compared to the 6800 line. It seems to me that nVidia should be bundling Doom3 and not ATI.

I wonder if DoomIII is going to be a "the way it's meant to be played" game. It probably won't be; nVidia tends to only put that logo on games that perform better on ATi hardware.

Wow what a reliable source of information so it must be true!

I think some of the anti-nvidia comments on Rage3D should give you a good indication of which company they prefer. Also Rage3D have done NO reviews featuring Nvidia hardware, for them to make up something like this they must be very worried!

Well, they supposedly took pictures of a poster at an EB Games that says "Want Doom 3 free?" then has a picture of an ATi card.

This is what one person had to say:-

"G'day Hi everyone, my first post ever so bit of a newb so bear with me...... why is there a little picture of a woman in the tool bar.... that's beside the point.

That eb deal is Australia only to my knowledge and all it is, is EB giving away a copy of Doom 3 with a purchase of a video card from eb, whether it be a GeForce or a Radeon these aren't deals done by ATI, nVidia and whoever is publishing Doom 3 in the land of Oz. These aren't pre-packaged by manufacturer. It's EB giving away some of their stock when you purchase something else from them.

Hope that clarifies some mis-conceptions, that lead to World War 3 or something. Hope to post soon again and have a nice night."

wow this is some news. that will knock off 60 bucks from x800 pricing, although EB does charge top dollar for hardware. I'm hoping this isn't exclusive to EB. But to be honest, I really don't care, since I'm not getting a card yet....

Funny how they bundle it only with the x800 Pro and 9600 XT, which are ripoff buys.

If this is bundled with those VIVO pros though I'd take a $450 pro over a $400 GT without a doubt.

I had another thread about Powercolor's X800 Pro really being an XT with a different BIOS. I can't remember if it was in that thread, but someone gave a link that had ATi responding to this. Supposedly, they admit that Pros with VIVO capabilities are in fact XTs with a different BIOS, but they said that if the cards are flashed with the XT one, they will fail sometime. Not sure if this is true, and even if ATi did really respond, not sure if they were just trying to put out propoganda so that people wouldn't just buy VIVO Pros and flash them to XTs.

So X800 Pros with VIVO and a copy of Doom 3 (assuming that the XT flash will work and not kill the card) would be quite the deal then.

speaking of game bundles with the ati...did anyone notice how the hl2 voucher with ati cards just dried up. Hl2 used to be with the x800pros when they came out (sapphire). But now only the top of the line has the voucher. I guess valves been giving away vouchers so long that they wont have any actual buyers left. I wonder how many people are sitting with hl2 vouchers...waiting....and waiting.....
