IF you can find a BB that doesn't call over to CC to verify that Doom 3 is in stock. No Doom 3 at CC for me today. Whats worse, I went to BB to try to get the pricematch and they called CC to verify it was in stock. No go for me getting Doom 3 at that price with the gamers gift card.

I think the hot deal right now is $41.30 out the door at BB with the gamers gift card. However, getting that price is a big YMMV until CC gets Doom 3.

doom, doom II, quake etc., UT

only FPS i really enjoyed was Jedi Knight, metroid prime (not really an fps tho) and COD to some extent

i guess i am not a fan of the genre but still might check this out

It's nice... But, sadly NOT as nice as far cry. I admit I am a farcry junkie, the waves on the beach and all the fun running around in the jungle is just a lot more eye candy then DOOM.

Other then that, the game is so dark (yes I cranked up the brightness)... You have to run around with a flashlight and the effects are pretty good. You can?t turn on a flashlight and hold a gun at the same time? Last thing I want to do is listen to a bunch of logs? It?s already boring enough? Ouch, did I just say that? I dunno, something about the game... Almost like you are in one of those hay mazes just trying to find your way out. Not much a plot line. No one really says anything except hurry up. Or if you try to talk to anyone they are all just busy. I'll have more time to play it next week. Hoping it gets better...

I can tell you this, I hear of alot of people having all kinds of problems. If you system isn't at least 1 Gig of ram, 3Ghz, and the latest x800 pro/6800GT vid card your gonna be sadly lagging as this will tax your hardware.

My recomendation = "BUY"

WHAT are you talking about? Granted I haven't played the game extensively but from what I read from HardOCP's hardware guide to Doom III, it scales very well from low-end to high end. Of course the person with the Geforce 4 won't be able to run at ultra high, but any idiot knows that.

Dunno what the rush is to get the game. CC looks like has the best deal if no BB around to PM CC with.

I will wait for the demo, and see how it performs on my system before getting it.

Then again, I could wait for it to hit the bargin bins! lol

Buy another copy using the gamers giftcard and PM to CC. Don't open box. Then return new box with receipt from 1st purchase. This is assuming of course that you purchased the 1st game originally from BB and that your time is worth the few $ savings.
