Import is just as gruesome but twice as boring..j/k, it's a landmark game that everyone should check out if they like FPS or not (assuming you have a vid card that will make it look halfway decent)


BTW, just so my post is not completely void of use, import generally means "no frills"...just cd's in a box.

no it's not.

usually games are sold for cheaper in Asia. Making it more affordable or else everyone will go buy a bootlegged copy.

Sometimes there are some methods to "region protect" the game. For example, I bought my WC3 CD from Thailand, (it's only about $12 over there when the game was released), but to install the game, you need to be able to type Thai language, as the installer asks you to type something shown. (I'm Thai, so that wasnt a problem) The games do come in a nice box like the US couterpart.

That sort of protection probably doesnt exist on this game tho. since it's being sold here as well.

 
The game is quite good after you get used to it. The graphics is amazing - the engine is a lot more sophisticated then HL2 (e.g. per pixel lighting), but gameplay is simplistic, or to put it another way, this is a pure old school shooter. You walk into a room and get ready for things jumping at you pop up behind you, and you just have a ball blasting them. That is what the game is about, with amazing graphics and creepy sounds. Plus, you can play this on Linux !
 
is it really worth it? i have yet to get it cus ive bought every other game out there. isnt the chronicles of riddick on the same engine? cus that game was freakin sweet

Just make damn sure you d/l the demo before you spend your hard-earned money on this awful game . . . . it does NOT get better . . . . just more of the 'same'. Or read RECENT reviews (the gfx is the ONLY "positive" in Diii)
 
Personally I didn't like either. Doom3 was WAY too predictable and HL2 was far too over hyped. HL1 is a much better game and storyline. Actually I sat down a few weeks ago and replayed through it yet again. Love that game. Flame on.
 
This game is terribly boring. I got tired of it and cheated through the rest of the game just because I wanted to see the ending (which wasn't worth it either). As I cheated my way through, I realized I would have fits if I attempted to honestly play through the rest of the game. Why? Because I found that the game wouldn't have gotten any less boring.
 
i havent played much of doom 3 but definitely thought the graphics were great, and definitely has hl2 beat on the monsters factor . . . hl2 though i thought was a little too easy to play through, puzzles were cute, but weren't all that challenging to figure out, and not much to the ending . . . again though, this isn't so much a comparison between the two so much as just my opinion of hl2 . . . fun game, great graphics, but could have used more interesting story/plotline. oh well . . .

oh yeah i still see price coming up as 29.90 + some for shipping
 
I won't pay over $10 for this game. My fool of a friend paid $45 for his copy and he won't even finish it. I will wait for bargain bin in a year or so.
