I haven't had a decent paczki since I was a kid growing up in Springfield, Mass...either no one out west makes them right...or my memory of the sweet delicious polski pastry has changed...

Well they probably can't coat them with powered cocaine anymore like they could when you were a kid in the 1890s

y'know...maybe that's it.

I so rarely start my day with a shot glass of jelly or quarter pound of powdered sugar that I prefer cake style donuts.

Good paczki are only available in very few Chicago Area Polish stores and you need to know which ones to get.

The rest is crap, so something like crispy cream doughnuts are always good.

If you get the real deal truly homemade paczki, nothing beats those. Nothing.

Freaking weird. I hadn't really thought of paczki since I worked in a grocery store in high school 14+ years ago until just a couple of days ago when I mentioned it to a friend.

Donuts are the best, but I've probably only had paczki once. How do you even say it? Paz-ki, pack-zi? That alone makes them inferior to donuts, IMO.

Being from the south, never have I ever been afforded the opportunity to partake in a paczki but from my googling....would smash.

I grew up in Michigan; Paczkis and Polish surnames are both pretty common there. So much so that we called today "Paczki Day" and not "Fat Tuesday".

I grew up Catholic (Italian family) and we did Lent, but Fat Tuesday was never a thing in our household. So I mostly learned about it from other kids in school.

uhhh ..... No one knows what Paczki is.

You pronounce it like

Po ch key

Po like in "potato"
Ch like in " chip"
Key like... uhmm "key"

😵 Do the Polish have language police patrolling the interweb? Too bad other countries aren't so quick to assist.

Done right and there is no comparison between paczki and doughnut, paczki will win every time. Not done right and it's just a big doughnut. The one I just ate was probably the best one I ever had. Of course it came from a genuine Polish bakery.

Being nearly 100% Polish and living in the midwest, we get some legit paczki around here (if you know where to look). That being said, I didn't have any this year and it's really a bummer. 🙁

LEGITIMATE paczki are second to none.

How does the dough part compare to doughnut dough? They basically look like doughnuts with a filling where the hole should be, something I have had many times.
