You call your local computer store to ask about a certain product they carry and they are not able to answer any questions?

I just called my local store and all I got was a bunch of "I don't know" answers.

Yeah that gnaws . What bemuses me is the local computer radio call in show . They cant seem to answer a single question correctly .

Don't you love it when you call your ISPs Tech Support line and tell them that you cannot get to any websites via name, only by IP, that if you change your DNS servers to some other ISPs you can surf fine and they reply with "Is the green light on your NIC on?"

I am assuming it wasn't the store that had no idea what you were talking abot when you called.

yes

I like befuddling Verizon's techs.
My DSL is always going out, and having set up several simple networks it's easy to do pre-call troubleshooting.

Tech: Verizon, can I help you?
Me: Yes, you have an outage.
Tech: Have you...
Me: Yes, I have rebooted all three computers, power cycled the modem, power cycled the router, connected a PC directly to the modem, and have verified that the internal network works correctly. DNS is not resolving. You have an outage.
Tech: .....oh. It appears we do.

I called a local computer store about 6-8 months after the Duron's release and asked if they had any 650MHz Durons and they said, "Duron?" I said, "Yeah, the processor from AMD." And they said, "I've never heard of it." Me, "Okay...thanks" and hung up. All of my local stores are useless - they know nothing.

I used to manage a local computer store, and we were very picky on who we hired. they had to know basic knowledge of computer hardware, and software, and i would train my employees on new technology that was coming out so they would know the answers to the questions when customers would call.

sounds like your local computer stores are run by a bunch of morons.

Actually, that doesn't bother me nearly as much as it does when car problems snowball from a sub $100 into the high triple-digits. :| (Friggin $120 plug wires.)
