You must lack frog skills. Train yourself to lunge at unsuspecting bugs with your hand and snatch them from the air.
 
Wait until they reach the bezel and then kill the suckers. Or put up a fly zapper in your room.
 
Get a TIG welder. I was fiddling with one at work the other day (repaired it, they let me use it then for awhile to see what it was capable of), and as I was working on some sheet metal, a fly flew right at the arc. It didn't kill it though, must have just burned a wing or something. I used the high frequency sparks to take care of it.
Poor stupid critters.

Spring is here, you know. The little bastards are starting to come out already.

@OP: I am the same way. I hate the bugs but no way I'm squashing them on 24" of expensive monitor goodness.
