Don't you hate it when your parents try to set you up?

Mom and dad called me today to let me know that they met this nice young man at the farmers market. They got to talking and somehow my personal and professional life came up. So then they asked him if he knew of someone nice he can introduce to me :| Here I am just sitting home, hanging out and just chill'in...not knowing what they've done.

The dude said sure, so he gave my parents his sisters contact, which later came up in the phone convo.

So, obviously I don't want to be a jerk, totally ignore her and not even give her a courtesy call. But, I wish my parents would understand that I don't need them to set me up!

1. She's in another state....so how is that going to help me at all?
2. Now I gotta figure out how to call her up and strike up some sort of conversation....err "hello, my mom met your bro at the farmers market and he gave me your number and I just thougt I'd call you up?!"

How would you handle this?

/end rant

As soon as you can, get as far away from them as you can, whether it means moving to a different state, attending a far-away college, or just making plans if you're still in high school.

B a jerk to who? She isn't expecting a call. I can guarantee her brother forgot about the whole thing 15 minutes later and didn't tell her he gave her number out. And even if he did, she probably doesn't want to talk to some wierdo who has his mommy collecting phone numbers for him at farmer's markets anyway.

but you see what I'm talking about....

if I don't call, I'm a jerk

Being a jerk can - and likely will, actually - backfire on you. Most women are attracted to the most vile, meanspirited, stupid men they can find.

Just dont call her. Who cares what some random girl in another state thinks of you. youll probably never meet her
