don't you hate it when you go out but end up too drunk to remember anything?

I have never not been able to remember what I did for the night from drinking.

Some people just can't handle alcohol as well as others, they should probably realize this and limit their intake.

OP, I'm looking at you...

I've actually never "blacked out" as a result of drinking. Sometimes i'll wake up and kind of feel like i'm in a haze, but if I think about it I can slowly piece together everything that happened the night before.

I can't remember where I saw it, but I think "blacking out" is a sign of brain damage.

It's weird though. If I get sloppy drunk I will end up puking before I get to the point of blacking out. My old room mate would never puke, but he would black out all the time.

I think blacking out is mostly just not being able to specifically recall that nothing happened. There have been a few times where I've asked what happened because I couldn't remember, and the answer from my friends was always something along the lines of me sitting on the couch or on the porch and watching TV or something.

Like you said, if anything was actually going on, I could piece it all back together pretty easily. But for the most part, I think people just get nervous that they don't remember, when there wasn't really much to remember. For instance, I didn't do a whole lot yesterday (and didn't drink), and I can't really tell you with any specificity what I was doing between the hours of 3 and 7PM. Wasn't drunk, but just wasn't doing much but wasting time.

Now if you can't remember a thing from early evening onward and wake up somewhere strange, with someone strange, or in jail, that might be a blackout. I don't think I've had that happen to me, though. Then again, my friends tell me my "autopilot" makes good decisions -- If I have too much, I usually just put myself in a cab and go home.

I've been so drunk that I passed out on a friend's couch, but I have never had a night that I didn't remember what I did.
