Don't you hate it when people call....

and they don't leave a message, and instead, they'll keep calling over and over? I was eating dinner, and a co-worker of mine was calling and I let it go to voicemail. Of course, he decides instead of leaving me a message about why he was calling, he decided to try calling me 5x in a row and I turned my phone off. If it's important, he would have left me a message, right?

Assuming you work in IT, the way we (where I work) typically handle after hours calls for something that is important is to call 3x before leaving a VM... most people who see 3 calls in a row and assuming they know where it's coming from are more likely to sense the urgency and answer the phone. This is assuming they missed the first call, decided to ignore the second, then we leave the message on the third call. 5 is a bit much though, I agree.

Almost no one answers their phone after hours on first or second attempt.

I never answer the phone when I am eating...I dont care who it is...if its important leave a message

Nope. This is my personal cell phone. I know he's calling me about his own personal computer/electronics problem. This has nothing to do with work.

you guys hiring? sounds like a fun place to work.

Damn he's calling again. The funny thing is, I would have called him back if he left a message after the first call but now he's pissed me off so I'm not answering out of principle.

If it's your personal cell line and you have a separate cell phone for work, then by all means ignore it.

lol. I work IT for a major pharmaceutical company. If we have a production server go down and it halts production or an SAP system isn't responding and they are unable to ship product.... (rarely happens) but you better be in a position where they can contact you ASAP because they will lose millions.
