Don't you hate it when diners charge a premium for healthy options?

I was at a diner and trying to be thrifty - it's a low cost place and a bacon cheese burger with fries would have cost me $5.00 - a bargain for NYC. I think twice and look over at the healthy choices.. Two hard boiled eggs over lettuce for $8.75! How much does that really cost to make? 50 cents? Much less than the burger, actually. Everything in the healthy menu was over 8 bucks and lots of places do that. I compromised and got a grilled chicken slovoki (however you spell it) from the standard menu ($7 with rice and salad) but, come on - nearly 9 bucks for 2 eggs and lettuce???

Why do places still do this crap, charging a tax for people who want to eat healthy??

well, let's see, people want to eat healthy. Diners wants to make money. hmmmm....how can a diner make money from people?

You can prepare a healthy meal yourself for less than what any restaurant is going to charge you.

Healthy food always costs more than unhealthy though. The only exception I can think of off the top of my head is with steak. The leanest cuts are always the cheapest.

i see the often applauded RossMan is nothing but an immature douche like many of the rest...Which is sad, considering I know that you're not a child but a supposed adult.

What urks me is that if you order the chicken instead of seafood or steak they always serve it with some dried out, nasty rice.

Why don't you just make it at home? You could probably get a carton of eggs and a bag of lettuce for cheaper than what you paid for that one meal.

It is an unfortunate matter of culture and economics. Usually the people who seek healthier options are the ones who can afford to pay extra. Thus people charge more for healthier options, which just makes poorer people eat less healthy, and the cycle continues.

Edit: All you people making fun of him, what will it take to satisfy you? You people call him out for making predominantly YAGTs, so he tries to join in and create different topics of conversation, and you ridicule him some more. You probably don't really want him to return to making so many YAGTs, so you should applaud his efforts and encourage him by responding constructively to his non-YAGT posts.
