"T-Bird 700E"

Is that some funky AMD-Intel bastard child? ;)

Which is why I don't do em! ;)
Actually its more frustrating watching a friend spending excessive amounts of dough on things he just won't use...

The store listed the T-Bird 700 as 700E... dunno why.

This guy is going to use the power, it's just that I want the power! He is a good friend and I enjoy building good computers instead of the E-mail terminals most people want.

in six months his computer will be listed as a bargin home pc,in a year there will be no reviews for that type setup. There is no such thing as being king of the hill for more than a couple of months now.

I built a 650 for a friend while I only had a 600.. and he paid 40 less for it 1-2 months after I got mine. Dammit. I wanted to switch the chips as a builders "fee" :)

My friend wanted so bad to get a DVD rom and a Zip drive and a burner. You wouldn't believe the hell I had to go through to talk him out of the zip drive, and since he just bought a DVD player I had to get him to realize he probably would NOT use the DVD rom for anything. It's not like he had everything to spend either, he was trying to hit a 1000 price point.

heh, that's why I constantly upgrade my comp and try and talk my friends into going cheaper over better. hehe

This one store by me lists an athlon 1ghz as an athlon 1gb. It is so darn funny because they have had it like that for well over a few months

I had one person he said they would give me $5000 to build em a computer! I told them half of that would be a dream machine. He said forget it and bought a Dell with RDRAM :)

I actually had a friend help me do my system cause he just did his and it was almost the same excpet i went 800 t'bird to his 750 t'bird, and got the geforce 2 32 meg to his geforce mx. He was a little bitter and threatened to "borrow" my vid card but he was a good guy about it, lol.

I never have that problem. When asked to build, I get the new system and the request gets my old parts. :)

Oh, I hate it when people who don't even use their computers have a better system than mine. My friends family just got an 800mhz Cumine w/ all the works. Also, I know people who use a cable modem just for e-mail! AAAARRRGGHHHH!!! I'm sittin here with a 56k wishin' that I could be playing Q3A.

Way to go, SUO!

That's the same thing I do. I just built a system with my old P3-600e, and then put a new 700e in my system.

Along the same lines, it is slightly upsetting having to buy better and faster parts that now cost less to go in these PC's, while we keep the older slower ones, that we paid more for not too long ago.

Nope, I actually love it.

What I hate:

"Jon, can you build me a complete computer for less than a thousands dollars?" (667 USD)

That drives me NUTS!!!

Johnny! Me too!!! If I want to charge anything for it and if they want brand new stuff and say forget it!!! The cheapest computer I build is ~1500cdn after taxes and paying me... I could try cheaping out but I don't want the phone ringing off the hook!
