Don't you hate being wrong about people?

I used to have two friends and for the longest time I used to think that one of them really hated me. Some stuff she said got around to me, etc, etc, you know how it is. I was of really high opinion of her friend, on the other hand, thinking she's the "smarter" of the two, and that she's really cool.

Now the friend who I thought hated me just left (moved to another state) for good, and from our last conversation I'm starting to realize that it she thought pretty high of me... Now only if I could get back all the time I missed out with my friend... :(

Moral of the story for all you young people out there, if you think you know somebody -- you probably don't

I never form a low opinion about someone unless they have proved to me beyond a doubt that they deserve to be looked down on.
Race, social status, employment, etc. doesn't factor into my opinion of anyone. If someone proves to me that they are a "good" person I'll accept them.

The result is that I have exactly zero enemies nor I have never heard of someone "disliking" me.

Race, social status employment had nothing to do in this case. Either way, I was wrong and I admit it :( That doesn't change much, but it'll serve as a good lesson to me.

I haven't been wrong in my impressions of people in 6 or so years... that hasn't kept me from deliberately ignoring my intuition though.

People are more often wrong about me than I am of them. Because I am quiet, people usually try to make me out as being stupid or slow. That is until we get in a competitive situation and I demolish them :) I am not the type to openly brag about myself, but let my actions do the speaking. Over time more people will have respect for you because of this. The talkers always get found out.

OTOH, I am very understanding type of person and try not to form an opionion of someone until I know them. Less conflict that way.

Well, kudos to you for admitting you've been wrong. Not nearly enough people take responsibility for anything they do anymore. It takes a lot of gumption to swallow one's pride and admit wrongness.

I do see a downside to my philosophy about people. I always assume that people in general are "good" and not out to get me.. I have faith in the cohesiveness of humans as a race and in societies. Thankfully, in the 23 years I've walked this earth, I've yet to be very wrong about someone; I've just weeded out the people who give off bad vibes and everyone else seems to be pretty cool in general. I would bet money that sooner or later I'll get screwed from this rather naive assumption about people, but until then...
