Asians ( Japanese mainly) get all the cool cell phones and portable electronic stuff. Another reason to move over there.

You might want to do some research before you buy a specific phone. Most of the world uses GSM networks for their mobile phones but GSM in north america isnt very widely available.

MD's are ridiculously cheap.

You can find bleeding-edge MD players for around 30,000 yen...

If you look around in Akibahara (Tokyo area) or Nipponbashi (Osaka area)'s "denden town" you could prolly find stuff even cheaper. Musta spent hours looking at all the cool little bitty gadgets when I went there.

Guys,

RAM price has gone down in Japan, but US will soon catch up. It usually takes a couple of weeks to a month for the US market to get influenced.

ASIA full of cheap stuff

No!! Trust me. I am a Japanese, lived there for 20 years, and travel to Japan quite often with my job. It's cool to go there to pick up the latest and greatest stuff like the new Casio Digital Camera watch and etc.. I could probably pick up a cC0 Stepping PIII700 in Akhabara today without paying ridiculous $330 which some vender here claims as "special" price.

However, I buy pretty much everything including computer stuff here in the states. I even buy things here and bring them over to Japan to upgrade my sisters' computers. On top of that, think about paying $1,600 for 265 sq feet studio which I was living in, given that it was right in a middle of Tokyo.

Again, trust me you guys are lucky living here (at least those who are living in not so sucky places which we have a lot of).

MuuMuu,

30,000 yen is like "280 bucks"!! For a MD player!! Cheap!! No, it's not. You can pick up two players for the money here. Yes, you can get a really, really small one. But, who needs it that small here. People there carrying there bag walk and take trains. We drive here.

fxsts has a point, the cost of living over there (at least to my understanding) is much greater. If any of you live in new york city or have a least been there, it's pretty similar if not more expensive. The rent is pretty comparible except that the newer places in nyc charge $2000 - $2500 for studios roughly that size, perhaps a little larger. Your best bet is probably just to visit and raid.

but if u take alook the prices in Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, China
what about it ?

monetary crisis made a hugh impact on prices.
just imagine...if $1 = 1000 Yen

For generic/OEM/non-brand stuff, they have it cheaper. For the good/brand name stuff, with rebate and sale, we usually get it cheaper in the US.

Realistically, unless someone paid for my plane trip to Asia, I won't be getting RAM there. Sure certain items may be cheaper there but most of the Asian countries are over-populated and the cost of living is unbelievable. I think living in the US can spoil an individual.
