Wow, thats crazy. 5 out of 9. My neighbor works at the one I go to so hopefully he doesn't stiff me. He usually gives me a little discount too.

If that district manager isn't axed, I'll never even think about bringing in my car for an oil change to any Jiffy Lube, corporate or franchised, ever.
In fact, NM that, their statement to NBC was BS. They should have a PR exec apologize on camera.

I got news for you guys, I bet Jiffy Lube is not the only joint that does this. I will bet you some good money that other fix-it places do the same exact thing.

Do as much car work yourself as you can if you want it done right; if you can't, go to the local guys, less chance of getting stiffed. :)

now that's the kind of investigative reporting I like to see... ****** that actually matters.

hate seeing 200 reporters covering minute moments in politics when they could be doing consumer advocacy work like this.

Next I want to see if there are places that stiff you on gasoline.

Had a bone dry gas tank once and the pump said I filled just under 20 gallons on my 18 gallon tank.

Channel 4, I choose you! Go get em.

Of all the oil change places I've been to, Jiffy Lube is the only place that has ever told me that I didn't need other work done (work that obviously didn't need to be done). I've been a loyal customer since for oil changes. However, I have never and will never use Jiffy Lube or any other oil change company for their expensive add-on services. When something needs a regular maintanence, I shop around for a good mechanic with good recommendations and good prices.

That's because there's volume in the filler neck and such.

looks like this guy was stiffed by the lube too
They're a big chain, they're bound to have multiple incidents. I think it's hit and miss no matter where you go.

I am at work, so I can't watch the video - what happened?
FWIW - I used to work at Jiffy Lube, and we did everythign by the book, and we did a car from start to finish in under 6 mins, unless it was a Nissan - their oil filter is too hard to get to in that time. They might take 10 mins.

Very true, but that DM (I saw the video) looked like he really wanted to avoid the subject. If they really cared they'd have fired the DM and everyone at that place and hired all new people.

I'm not saying Jiffy Lube is the only place that does this, and I'm not saying all Jiffy Lubes are dishonest...but this particular store in this particular district had something big to hide, it appears.

I have an opinion as to what is REALLY happening with this:

The DM is very shady (denies his identity as DM). He and the other 'managers' that he is in charge of (IE: the rest of the District) probably have something set up to where they rip people off and split the cash in some way. The way they are doing this would make it tough for the company to catch. They probably aren't using the parts so no inventory shortages (fuel filters and such) and they are using machines that probably aren't monitored in any way (the I-Tech machine).

I highly doubt the company is condoning this. Too large of a brand to risk this kind of acitivity. It's most likely and isolated incident where the local management wanted to make a few more bucks on the side for themselves (not the company)

I went to a Jiffy Lube once a few years back. The mechanic pulled out a spark plug rattled it around and said it had to be replaced. The next time I went back to my regular mechanic and he confirmed that Jiffy Lube had cheated me and everything the Jiffy Lube mechanic told me was pure BS. I'll never go back to a Jiffy Lube ever again.

Agreed. I didn't see it the first time, and this makes me VERY angry. Good to know. I brought my car to Jiffy Lube for those EXACT services (my old one, not my new baby). Fantastic. Fvckers. :|
