DONT ORDER FROM BUY.COM

OK, so I'm in the market for a digital camera and I decide on the Canon SD110. Buy.com had a coupon for $15 off $200 purchase for new customers. I used the coupon and it made the camera $221 shipped, the best price I could find. SO I place my order on AUGUST 1ST and it hadn't even SHIPPED by Tuesday of this week so I canceled the order and proceeded to order it from Buydig.com for $15 more. I sucked it up and moved on. Today, the 13TH of AUGUST my order from buy.com shipped.....

My CANCELLED ORDER that I placed 12 DAYS AGO shipped today.

WHAT THE FVCK.

Don't buy anything from there, ever.

Personally, my 10+ orders from buy.com have been good experiences.

Everyone has a problem at one time or another w/ an e-tailer. Not promoting them as the best, but also from their feedback ratings, they are a reputable seller.

Sorry you had a bad experience.

I ordered from them once, got the email confirmation, "thanks for your order" and such, waited.. waited.. and waited. Checked back in a couple weeks and they had no history of me ordering  On a good note they didn't charge my credit card, but damn.. with Newegg you order and your stuff is there 3 days later like clockwork. I haven't ordered anything else from buy.com.

heads up: saying things like "don't do business with [insert vendor]" exposes you and the forum owners to legal action with pretty hefty damages.

just post in the "Whine here" thread, and fill out a resellerratings report, we can make decisions when we see exactly how many people get screwed in similar ways...

o yeah i ordered something there and thye said process in order or watever waited 2 weeks and they canceled my order without a reason or a email

They have a very low resellerrating, I wouldn't bother with any vendor with a resellerrating lower than 8.🙂

I've been luck with them, but know of others that were less fortunate. They're sort of hit and miss. NewEgg has yet to get one wrong.

I've been buying from them for years now without any problems: PC parts, software, audio/video cables, music CDs, DVDs.

The only thing you have to realize about them is that when they say "usually ships in 1 to 2 business days" they mean exactly that: usually not always.

If you want fast shipment, buy from newegg. If you need it tomorrow buy it locally. If you can (if necessary) wait up to a couple of weeks, use buy.com.

Companies have strengths and weaknesses, learn them and your frustration will disappear.

I've used them a few times. Had real good luck, they got everything right and shipped pretty quick too IIRC. I only go there when I can't find what I need at newegg. Sorry to hear about your prob with them.

wierd, yesterday I ordered something from buy.com and today they gave me a tracking number and fedex says that it's coming today, 3 days early!! So far buy.com seems really good to me.

EDIT (7/18) : it didn't come 🙁 hopefully tommorrow

EB did the same to me. I pre-ordered a game, then canceled it. Then they shipped and billed me weeks later.

Office Depot, Outpost.com, and Buy.com are the retailers I try to avoid and are permanently on my sh!t list. OD and Buy for being incompetent and unable to speak with anyone above basic CSR w/o tons of work, and Outpost for NOT having real time inventory.

Summarily, those three suck.

The last time I ordered from them my stuff arrived busted up by UPS. Sent it back and ordered something else that showed in stock. Week later it never shipped yet, they said it was out of stock and would not be getting it in. They didn't even notify me that about it even thought it was in stock when I ordered. Me = Mad. A month later no refund yet on the first product. They said they will refund me when they get it back. I then gave them the tracking # showing that they had it for over two weeks. Had the refund within a few hours but by then I decided to order from elsewhere from then on.

I ordered a mouse and it didnt ship for a while so I decided to try to cancel, after 2 days that i cancelled it showed that it shipped, but i knew to wait before i tried ordering somewhere else. Got the product and it is fine, but be careful when trying to cancel an item.

Well I FINALLY got the camera today, 17 days after I ordered it!! WTF!

I can RMA it but I think I might sell it on FS/T just so I don't have to deal with buy.com anymore. I don't want to wait another 3 weeks to be credited my money back. What do you guys think?

It's a shame, BUY.COM used to be really good. Then they started to get cheap and got rid of their customer service number. I haven't ordered from them since.

Buy.com is usually a little cheaper but can take a long time to ship. I also noticed that when you cancel an order it usually shows up.

I had the same problem as the poster. I ordered a wireless card from them, and it just sat in the pending status for two weeks, so i canceled it. It arrived at my house a week after that, and was billed to my credit card two months after. It was only a 20 dollar card, so i didn't really care, but still...something's not right when the entire transaction takes 3 months.

You want low prices so they can't hire to many workers otherwise it drives the cost up. I would prefer to pay less for some things and know that I'm going to have to wait a few weeks if I don't need it right away.

If they were upfront about it it would save a lot of grief.

wow, you must be an extremely thickheaded person to ignore the fact that we live in the US

edit: here's some info on the case I had in mind... Here's details of the setllement with some of the defendents:

Dan Resler - Defendant R. Daniel Resler, severally, shall pay plaintiff the sum of $4,150 on or before the thirtieth day following execution of this Stipulation by all parties.
Jared Weinberger - Defendant Jared Weinberger, severally, shall hereafter: (a) cause a Banner Ad to be displayed at his web site for 145 days; and (b) reinstate a link from his web site to plaintiff?s site in form and substance similar to those maintained for other similar vendors for not less than the same time period.
Sean Carney - (Terms not in settlement agreement as of this writing)
Mark Barnett - Proposed defendant Mark Barnett, severally, shall hereafter: (a) cause a Banner Ad to be displayed, at each of the following web sites maintained by him: FishLinkCentral.com, AquaBid.com, FishForums.com, AquaRank.com, FishLinkExchange.com, AquaBoards.com and AquaChat.com, for 120 days, in substantially the same manner in which a former advertisement was displayed for the defense fund for this action; and (b) implement a Posting Guidelines System at any web site main-tained by him that permits third-party posting.
JoAnn VanDersarl - Proposed defendant JoAnn VanDersarl, severally, shall, not later than the thirtieth day following execution of this Stipulation by all parties, execute, acknowledge and deliver to plaintiff documents sufficient to transfer to plaintiff all of her right, title and interest in and to the domain name plantedtank.com.

All this resulted from some people complaining about bad service and suggestions to not do business with Novak's site.
