This is a frivolous lawsuit that will get thrown out of court. The school district should counter sue for time wasted.

Depends on the teacher. Summer hw helps you mitigate the death and decay your mind goes into after 3 months of nonstop summer drinking.

Wowowowowowowow!

My poor, poor generation. So much for generation Y being able to help social security, even though we're a large generation, we're apparently also very stupid.

It's funny that this thread is getting the responses it is, and I actually agree with the lawsuit. :D

Schools prior to college should not give students homework. It's rediculous. The kid's ability to do the homework is directly related to how strict the parent's are in making sure their kids do it - and in many cases the parent's have to spend just as much time helping them out with it. They are already in school for 7 hours straight - if it is so important in education to have all this extra work, then the school's should add an additional hour or two to the day and dedicate that time to such work.

I never did my homework in high school, because my parents never asked about it or checked it. It was also extremely boring/simple homework, which made it worse. My grades suffered as a result - I did well on the quizes and tests, but I lost points from missing homework.

Although you should study for tests and such at home. But all this homework is plain stupid.

What a baby. I had summer homework in high school and I didn't cry about it. When you don't have time to learn the course material sufficiently during the term, you have a little bit of extra work. But then you aren't forced to take advanced placesment courses. This kid shouldn't have been in the class in the first place if he couldn't handle the load.

We had a similar case brought before the PROPER JURISDICTION (school board) here. Now the summer homework is made available at the start of summer, and actually ASSIGNED during the first week of school. It's generally FAR too much to actually accomplish in that one week, but it's a loophole that satisfied the morons.

Seriously; don't do it. Nobody does it. Not even the ubernerds.

Oh no, poor kid can't go be a camp counselor because of his homework.

Heh, when I was 17 I spent the summer working in a machine shop.

and since when was pre-calc remotely challenging?
