You do realize your edits are time stamped right?
You've been around long enough to know better...

I recently deleted my FaceBook and MySpace accounts.

I signed up for FaceBook because a friend wanted me to view his photos, ok, no big deal. I signed up for MySpace because another friend wanted me to play a MySpace game called Mobsters with him.

After about two months I didn't check either... deleted. If people want to send me photos I just give them my email address. :)

As for the "networking" part, well, real networking... that's what LinkedIn is for.

Me too.
I only cared about Myspace when they had naked chicks on it. By the time I got around to checking it out they had done away with that.

It's becoming pretty essential. Myspace was never anything but annoying IMO, but FB is really valuable as a way to get in touch with old friends and network.

I just started one a few days ago....I got intouch with a very old friend...too bad I think she only remembers me by name. I was kind of sad b/c she was a really good friend with my sis and I atleast thought she would have responded by saying hi....oh well...people come and go...even if you do not want them too.

Let me(all of us) know when you get any one of the three up and running.

Which of these will let me easily get in touch with a friend that recently moved (thus changing address and in some cases phone number) because they graduated from college (thus losing the email address that I had for them)? When I graduated, Facebook was by far the best way to stay in touch with people.

Anyway if Facebook is so pointless, I'm not sure why you include the phone or email in your list. Obviously these are just redundant when you have the One True Technology of letters. Hell, we may as well shut the Internet down now, since everything it does can be done with letters.

@OP: The storm over Facebook's terms of use was specifically that it was changed to indicate they would keep your data after you closed your account. So I'm not sure how closing your account is the solution. Anyway, they reverted the change after people complained.

I'm going on 2 now. My only gripe is a lot of newegg and maximum pc contests seems to be twitter or facebook happy so I miss out. What I don't miss out on is my grandma leaving me shit about jesus and god on my wall

if people wanted to keep in touch, why wouldn't they just give you their info. i have a FB account and people that never talked to me or i was never friends with in HS are asking me to be their friends or whatever. Hell, people that were my friends haven't added me as friends on FB.

lol, I love the request from those who are "friend-whoring," or simply known as chicks (and there are guys) who add anyone that they come into the slightest contact with. And there are those extreme "hey look at me, I have over 1,000 friends" ones. :disgusted;
