Don't let me regret my motherboard purchase

Ok, i'm upgrading my system to a p4 3.0ghz cpu. the thing i need now is the motherboard. i don't have a huge budget to spend so i want the best my money can buy. the most i can spend is $100. i've been looking on ebay for the abit is7 mobo. is that a good mobo? please recommend me a few motherboards in this price range that has good oc options, supports p4 3.0ghz HT. the last time i bought a mobo was the ecs k7s5a, man was the regretful. help me out, thanks a lot.

Since UR ugrading your processor have you taken into account the rest of your hardware? Will your memory, ATA drives, video and other cards be compatible? I've upgrade several times in the last 1.5 years and the real bite in the butt is having to changing memory etc. Now with the new Serial drives out it opens up Pandor's box again. I'm current looking at the new mobo for other reasons but I refuse to buy new memory again.
Just something to consider.

Just something to consider.

It's a good point and you really need to be careful with your budget - easy to get out of hand.

my other hardware is fine for the system for now. radeon 8500, maxtor 160gb, 512 samsung ddr400... just need a mobo for now.

Just chicken, oops checking. I hate to see people make some of the darn mistakes I made. I above all should know better. It's just you get that oboy, I'm getting a new mobo feeling and you lose track of what UR doing.

Good luck with your hunt, I just looked at a Intell 875Perl. Nice board.
