I think the parents are partly to blame for this. It seems as if the kid got little or no discipline at all. If it was my kid I would make him pay it back and if he didn't kick his butt out on the street. After he realizes how hard it is to live and make money, then we would see how things are.

I kinda knew a guy that did something like this about 1.5 years ago
I had a couple of classes with the guy and then I never saw him, about a year later(apparently he went sideways)
He shows up at a local pub driving a brand New 300z.
Has all this cash puts the almost the entire bar's drinks all nite on his tab, He does this four nite's in a row (at least 25-50 people each nite were drinking on this tab). The last nite he does it the card is declined and he ends up getting the crap kicked outta him by some rugby players, I kinda felt bad for him he obviously was having some sort of psychological breakdown. (BTW I could tell something was not right and told the guy I would pay for my own drinks)

It turns out that he had stolen his Dad's 300z and Credit Cards; and drove all the way from California to MO and then spent Crazy money.

Pretty wild, I never found out how much he spent but, it must have been a ton.
