That poor person in the car. As if hitting that person (although they seemed alright) wasn't already going to f up their life enough. The rest was pretty uncalled for.

they cared more about the uncalled for retaliation than checking if that girl was alright. camera turned too late to see exactly what happened.

The person driving wasn't even doing anything wrong. They hit someone who was jaywalking.

This is like getting mad at the person who was t-boned by another person who ran a redlight. That makes no fucking sense. Go diaf.

no, but what we can see is that the pedestrian was jaywalking and that the car most likely had a green light (cars from the opposite side of the intersection had already started crossing).

the driver should have just run them all over and done some population control, each and every one of those hoodrats are a waste of oxygen.

People are idiots, sometimes they can't help but be hit. Besides that, try not to hit shit.

I haven't seen the video (on phone) but I presume this advice is valid: do not go into the hood and if h have to get out of your car for any reason be ready to get back in fast.

Edit: now seen it yep glad that person knew not to leave the car and was ready to drive away although I think they should have sped away when the guy was on their windshield. If they had left the car they could have been beaten to death over this.

If only the driver had a gun, then the situation might have been resolved quicker.

So many points they missed for not running over the idiots that attacked the person in the car. :(

It's illegal to hit a pedestrian, even if you have the right of way. With that said, everytime I drive through Harlem people are always jaywalking. ALWAYS. Worse, they eye you as they're doing it, knowing full well that you are not allowed to hit them.

This video got me so pissed just watching it. I hate ghetto people and any stereotypes are fully deserved and justified. What a bunch of primitive disgusting animals. No class, decency or education whatsoever. I want to spit on all of them.

Most people (not all) that get hit by a car are not paying attention.

Back in Europe they used to teach us (in school) to look TWICE each way before you cross the street.

This has saved my life once. Back 5 years ago I got off the train and went up to the street (there is a guy next to me). I look both ways (so does he) and we do see a car approaching about 50-75 feet away. It was getting dark and the car was going under the bridge so it looked like it was stopping.

I'm not exactly sure what it was but something told me to look again. When I looked, the car didn't slow down AT ALL. Guy next to me didn't look twice and got hit head on > went up 15 feet in the air and landed 20 feet down the road like a rag doll.

I see SO many people not even looking for cars and just assuming "pedestrian has the right away".

It's your fucking LIFE and law will NOT stop people from doing things.

In the case above the guy actually looked, just didn't look twice.

LOOK TWICE EACH WAY Before you cross ANY street.

Although the video is disturbing, it has NOTHING on what they do to people in India after the accident.

If they are jaywalking, not only is it legal, as already pointed out, but you can sue them for damages.

there are neighborhoods in cleveland where i drive, where it seems like the kids want to get hit. they wait on the side of the road watching you, then they jump in front of you at the last second.

one day i stopped the car and started going in reverse. my brother in law was with me and he said what are you doing. I told him, nevermind, I won't do something stupid in front of you.

those kids think it's funny to nearly die, i will show them what is funny. it's a sad life when you're in the ghetto and the only way to get out, is to get hit by a car.

It looked to me like the driver hit someone who wasn't jaywalking, but was in a crosswalk. When the person was hit she was walking between two white lines that were perpendicular to the street corner. Even if you walk when the stop sign is lit you still aren't jaywalking.

The driver doesn't help their case when they back up like nothing happened and didn't offer an apology quickly. Of course I would be scared to get out of the car in that neighborhood too and they didn't give her much time before they started banging on her car.

I had to drive through the hood for work for several years. Man am I glad I have a new job since then.

That still sounds like jaywalking to me - person crossing against the light (you can see the reds on the cross-street's signals). They may have the right of way in a crosswalk, regardless of the light color, but in many jurisdictions, they could still be ticketed for jaywalking. The right of way merely arises from the fact that car beats pedestrian. If it was NY, the driver would have an easy defense: "I didn't see them" is apparently perfectly valid justification for running over jaywalkers. Few in NYC get charged for running over pedestrians.

I wouldn't have gotten out of the car. And the crowd gathered so quickly, not much could be done. The person in the car backed up a little, probably to keep out of the intersection. The next thing that should have been done was get on the phone with the police, but the mob decided to be outrageous.

just like i argue in my neighborhood's facebook, people complaining sports cars are driving too fast in the neighborhood, there are kids playing!

My response is do not let your kid's play in the street ,I'm pretty sure a car going 5 mph can kill a kid. Of course I don't have kids and wouldn't put a leash on one, but if I have to be outside to watch them (because they can't listen to reason and aren't old enough), they are getting nowhere near a street. The street is for cars, you can die being on it. Once you accept that, enjoy it all you want.

Go ahead. I'm sure there's a hood near you.
