Don't have an 8-pin PCI-E connector? Here's how to make one

So I got a 9800GX2 with 2 power connections and I didn't have an 8 pin adapter. I tried looking online to see if using 2x 6 pin connectors would be fine, but I couldn't find much. Finally I tried making an 8-pin adapter and it works perfectly!

I posted the guide on my blog today, and I would copy it here but there's no pics allowed in AT posts 🙁

How to make 8 pin PCI-E Power Connector

i don't understand why that card needs two extra grounds? if it only needs 3 ~18ga power wires, why would it need 5 of the same size ground?

At least when I checked a year ago, it was practically impossible to find them anywhere. I had to buy one from someone on here.

i bought mine on ebay for $4 plus shipping, works great, never had any trouble at all with it in my current system. overdrive enabled as soon i installed the adapter and turned the computer on
