yeah, there are varying degrees of trolls, and this guy isn't up too high from what we've seen in teh past. Anyone remember KAMAZON who plastered this forum w/ LaRouche quotes for about a month or two? He seemed worse. We can all troll every once in a while. Some just start out doing so more when they first join us and tone it down after a while for some truly thought provoking debates. Others just leave when they see we don't feed them anymore. Only time will tell.

KAMAZON is a puppy compared to BOBDN(and his aliases) But IMO infopigeon is just a moonbeam with no poetry, riddles, or mirror. He just seems to like to plop turds places hoping people will step in them. Troll? Yes but nothing close to banning yet.(IMO and from what history has shown in this forum). Now Zillatroll's comments warrant serious review by the MODs(IMO) but then again there are a few here who have basically said similar things and weren't touched by the MODs. Also, we must take note of those who have seemingly received favorable treatment by the MODs for things that would get us "normal" members vacationed or banned.

Meh - I really don't see what the issue is ATM. Sure infopigeon is a troll and most everyone agrees with that(to some extent) but he really hasn't crossed the line of decency...YET... like most most trolls end up doing at some point.
I've stocked up on cookies so like Micheal suggested - the troll(s) will get a treat when responding:)

I just sure hope you guys aren't slinging "troll" around merely because you don't like what the person's saying. I recall not too long ago about 1/2 of you were defending Romans with his 1-2: Cockroach-FU posts. And then shrieking like little girls when Moonbeam put him in his place. Nuff said.

DealMonkey - I have no problems with someone expressing a view different than mine and have never called someone a troll for just doing that. I may call them other names in my response, but a troll is more specific.

In general, a troll is not deserving of a response as they're there for the reaction, not the discussion. Threads in which a troll is operating degenerate into cascades of responses to the troll and usually veer further and further off topic.

Trolls are bad because they destroy discussions.

In response to the people asking for my badge or authority:

I have no badge and no authority that is not derived from what I post. If the Mods do not like it, then they step in and say so or lock the thread. Note that my thread did not call out the person I think is just trolling as that is a direct violation of the one rule that is pretty consistently defined - threads that specifically attack one member.

Yea, but if he appeals to authority and they give him some authority, then he might become an authority...and then start using "logical fallacies" and run the risk of being wrong [see below] :)

Second, you are appealing to authority. I highly suggest you do a google search for logical fallacies.

Again, if you read up on logical fallacies, you might be able to make a cogent post. Remember, it's American to use reason. American scientific prowess is an outgrowth of logic. By denying logic, you are being unamerican

Michael, you really need to do a google search for "logical fallacies."

Let me explain to you how appeals to authority work. Just because someone is an authority on a subject on something does not make them right.

You do not understand what a logical fallacy is. If you're unwilling to learn I can't help you anymore.

Michael, now you are engagin in ad hominem. Hence you're argument is baseless. Why don't you try addressing the issue instead of addressing me.

http://www.datanation.com/fallacies/

Michael, many universities and logicians deal with logical fallacies. It is a not a highschool-only topic.

Wha kind of thread do you feel this is? One wear logical fallacies are being pointed out?
