<< I then set some scheduled tasks. Norton now scans his computer for viri every 1 minute. The "You're a i love you" picture now opens every minute. >>

So his computer is still physically at school?

<< Oh man, stupid phase. Stupid dorm friends who spread the links on aim! You could literally hear the screams from the girls' floors when the mass linky aims went out. >>

Huh? What were the links to?

I told that guy to clean his comp of nimda and stop spreading it to my computer on the network, or else I was going to do it for him. Had he been apolegetic and not belligerent, I woulda just cleaned it out for him remotely.

As it stands, he earned himself a deltree *.* /y to his autoexec.bat. Crash his compy, and just wait for his computer to reaccess the network.

It never came back on under that same name again :)

Guess I'm the only one who is debating whose behavior is more childish and asinine. So far, the "geek" seems to be well in the lead.

Seems this pseudo-hax0ring is more destructive and indicative of immaturity than anything.

Also, not to be the pedant in this thread, but.....

You can't trace an ip to a physical address [1]! You can certainly approximate, but only with a level of granularity that even cellular triangulation won't envy.

[1] Not entirely true, but it would assume a level of access on the target's provider, which I assume you don't have, and don't know how to acquire.

i think you should be careful. while you are in the right, he could (though not likely) have you arrested. why don't you just tell the police that he has your sh!t?

<< Is there anyway to create a hidden folder? I could put gigs of stuff in it and he would never know where all his hard drive space went :D >>

You could make one that he could see but would be unable to open.

If you are both using 9X, access is HD using a command prompt go to were ever you want the folder,
and type 'mkdir the_folder_name' but where ever there is a _ press < alt 0 2 2 5 >
alt 0255 is a space character that DOS understands but Windoze doesn't.
now just move everything in there using the 'move' command.

You might be able to do this if you have NT but he must have 9X.

Not that anyone is out to get me, but this is why I have a perfectly good base GHOST image of my C: ... reinstalling/formatting can be a bitch.

You can also just install IIS on his machine and let all the security holes do the rest. ;)

This is why I have held back from actually installing viruses. I'm not sure I want to risk it. I don't think the police will do anything (if he by some chance finds out that I did it, which is extremely unlikely in the first place) if he says "hey, this guy deleted all the music that I had illegally downloaded from the net on my computer."

i am a little lost here. how do you have access to his computer? when i went to school in the dark ages (the 90s) we never had a physical computer at school, we just have a dir that we can access from the library and from home, but the library never had speakers. also, how did u program norton on his computer? i am just curious.
