OP - just how loud were you listening to it? By the time you get it turned up to a point where it's stressing the amp or anything close to that, it should sound more like noise that bugs you than music. I would compare it to those fuzzy blocked out channels on TV.

Even without that extended warranty - you bought a product and are using it for its intended purpose, Sony should have put a limiter somewhere if it would damage it or fall outside of the intended purpose of the product. It failed at that and so legally, you have the power. You should not have to buy extended warranties for these issues.

I really have no complaints. I pretty much agree with you. The warranty was probably not needed but it does offer me a bit of reassurance.

As I said, it suits my needs just fine, and I am upgrading the sub woofer soon, which is another part of the package which isn't that great.

You get what you pay for when it comes to Sony audio systems And thats what $200 gets you. Also the first sign of a crappy audio system is the RMS power is not listed.

PS- Bose sucks

I was simply letting potential customers know I love the system, just the minor complaints that I have with the system, therefore saving them the headache of not knowing that they can't play their music above a certain volume without blowing the receiver.

i have that same system you have and it works fine for me. i bought it a year and a half ago for $170 and it works just the same as it did on day one.

Instead of doing any reserch before you spend money, you buy a cheap system with the "Sony" name then get pissed at Sony? Everyone knows that everything Sony makes isn't the best. In other areas, Sony cannot be beat. Do your research next time. Use the intraweb for something good next time.

Yeah, you're right. Sorry for making a title in generalities. I do like the system, just a few gripes.
