Donnie Darko

If you get a chance, watch the part of the movie where Donnie and his girlfriend are at the movies watching Army of Darkness with the actor commentary on. Jake Gyllenhal (I butchered the spelling) does a spot on Christopher Walken impression that had my friends and I rolling.

"My eye it's... shot out..."

Just a bunch of BS to stoke college stoners imagination. It didn't even make sense and cannot be explained. Every generation has a movie like this.

Good movie, but vastly overrated.

Overrated by the online message board crowd...yes. I think it's a pretty good movie...but it doesn't warrant the cult following IMO.

If it has one, then that's enough to warrant it.

You are obviously not a fan...no need to bash another about it.

I know more people that like Donnie Darko than are members of a online forum.

i disagree.

it's one of the worst movies i've ever seen and I wish I never watched it to begin with.

what a waste of time.

<-- waits for all the backlash!

Jesus F'n Christ what a good movie
Wait until you're older and develop more mature intellect and sophistication then watch it again, you'll think its retarted and juvenile. About the age of 15 should do it.

Such as? I want to know what you consider as decent movies.

I've watched this movie at least 4 times all the way through and it's meh at best. I keep trying to see what's so good about it and I fail every time.

It's very very average.

I bet I am older than you.

Good movie, but (as others have said) overrated.

Only 2 things about it really stood out for me.

**** SPOILER ALERT****

- The bit about "the world will end in... " being a prophesy for his own death.
- And I, too, was a senior in high school in the fall of '88.

Otherwise, it's a kind of a novelty movie. You can only watch it once or maybe twice and then there's no reason to ever watch it again really.

Enlighten me with some decent film suggestions.

Be sure to watch Kalifornia and Fargo if you haven't seen them already.

Have seen Fargo (great movie), will put Kalifornia on the NetFlix list

Adele Corners: You know, I used to smoke before I met Early. But he broke me of that.
Carrie Laughlin: Broke you?
Adele Corners: Oh. Yeah. Cos Early don't think women should smoke or drink or cuss. So you know what I do? I spell all my cuss words

I don't think it's as overrated as it used to be. The number of people who complain about it being vastly overrated seem to vastly outnumber those who think it's so great.

I still like it.

That would therefore be a real tragedy (reaching the peak of intellectual and mental development in high school...a mind is a terrible thing to waste).

<== dob 1971

Many of Darko's fans that I know were children of the 80's.

Just because you don't get it or like doesn't mean other's don't.

Stick with A&E or whatever floats your boat.
