Mad World is one of the best covers EVER.

 I heard even the TFF guy said it was better than their original.

Agreed. It's about time travel in much the same way that Sideways is about wine.

It's a good movie, but most of us will need to watch it at least a second time before we consider it good.

The Director's Cut includes a lot more handholding, but IMO one of the most alluring things about this movie was the open-endedness and being able to draw your own conclusions about many of the major themes. The Director's Cut makes it more coherent at the expense of being able to wonder about all the loose ends.

The movie is freaking awesome. And not only makes perfect sense, but can be intrepreted many different ways, and make sense in different ways to different people.

Most people don't like it, or didn't get it - but then again most people are simply too dumb to understand it.

Yes, pretty much. There is an entire gamut of movies that are worshiped by college aged students for nothing more than being a "quirky, rare type of movie." As I stated above, I didn't think Donnie Darko was that bad. In fact, I enjoyed watching it. It's just not half as insightful or great as it is hyped to be.

Can you give an example of a movie you think is 'insightful and great'? Just curious.

For those of you who haven't watched the Director's Cut you should.
Apparently this film has reached Cult status, especially in the U.K.
In the special features of the D/C there are interviews with some of the hard corp U.K. fan's and it's funny how they all seem to go on about how us Americans just didn't get it, yet the Brits being SO MUCH more enlightened and deep got it right off.
Several then go on to explain some of the subtle hidden meanings in the movie, then the director/writer, when asked about it just kinda goes

I agree. With these threads so far on the front page I'm starting to agree with the world's sentiments toward us as of late. I mean I would expect it from our President, he could watch this movie and never get anywhere close to the point. But I thought the people were smarter. The movie deserves its cult status as far as I'm concerned, regardless

bah... I got tired of hearing about this damn movie so I finally rented it.

I didn't completely understand it the first time... damn that bunny rabbit scared the crap out of me. The scene where he is tapping on the mirror in the bathroom with a knife... well lets just say, that scene definetly requires a subwoofer cranked up to get the full experience. I nearly crapped when he kept banging... damn couch was shaking :lol

The humor was quirky but funnay... smurfs, high school drama, patrick swayze as a pedo, and my favorite ""oh, wait, she's going back, will it be there!?.... ooooo, no dice today"

Good stuff. I watched again and plan on watching again with a few more buddies who never heard of it.
