Nintendo announces new 'easy' mode and other exclusive content for Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. It’s a new ‘easier’ difficulty mode for starters. This mode will provide players with three hearts instead of the standard two.

Just to plug this game because my best friend is a programmer at Monster Games who did this port...

At least a portion of the exclusive content is in the form of new levels. According to Nintendo, the levels designed by Monster were so well done that they could pass for having been designed by the original team. High praise from coming from the Big N, and based on talking to my friend they are very demanding to work for.
 
This is one of the best 2D platformers of the past 15+ years. Good to see it get more attention with this port.
