To play Crysis at the native resolution of 2560x1200 smoothly would be quite difficult.

Since no budget is mentioned, I would go with Gtx280 in SLI or wait a month for the Radeon 4870x2.

At those resolutions, video ram is your friend.

For single card it'd have to be a GTX 280. If you're OK with multi-GPU I'd say the 4870X2 without a doubt, especially if you want to enable AA. Dual 1GB frame buffers and a lower price tag make it a better choice than 4870CF.

If you want max performance at $450 get two GTX 260s in SLI. Those will crush a single GTX 280 and should be similar to 4870X2.

How do you figure? The AT preview showed the X2 fairly well stomping the SLI 280 even, IIRC.

Edit: My bad...it's about 50/50 with the X2 up by about 20% in two games, and the SLI up by 20% in the other two games.

depends on your case. if you can fit a 4870x2 id go with that and a crosffire mobo over 2 280's in sli.

down the road you could add a single 4870 or 4850 even to boost performance. i think crossfirex scales better than tri-sli last i read but i could be wrong.
