Well, what do you think?

Here's the updated list. I left the original post quoted above so you can see the changes I made.

The NeoHE is alright but I would go with a Seasonic 380+ watt S12/M12.

Super Talent is not a brand or RAM that I am familiar with so I would go with Mushkin, Crucial, Corsair, Kingston, or Geil by default.

And change the case to a Lian Li 🙂.

Why do you say that the NeoHE is just "alright"?

And can I just stick with memory with 5-5-5-12 timings or do I need something better if I want to get a decent overclock? I'm not looking at any kind of mega-overclocking, just something medium.

You might want to consider getting a weaker PSU of better quality (though the Antec is OK, AFAIK)

Looks like an awesome system to me. Have the NeoHE 550 myself and its works great. Made by Seasonic too.

I'm not sure I'd spend $300 on a hard-drive. What are you doing that requires a Raptor?

I'd get a Seagate, personally, for $100. Otherwise, good build.

I have a raptor and i've got to join intrinsicvalue on wondering if it's really worth it. Knocks a bit off your media transcoding times, a bit off your BF2 load times, but are those seconds worth the extra $100 you're paying rather than getting a normal 7200 drive? Should get you nudging the GTX price point shouldn't it?

Its actually $200 more expensive. I would definitely swap the Raptor for a 7200RPM drive and the 8800GTS with a 8800GTX.

Corsair HX510W 🙂
Supertalent is good stuff.
Are you sure you don't want an E6400 and an aftermarket hsf for quiet?
Why not a 7200.10 320GB for 95bucks? Price/Performance is waay better.

Thanks for all the excellent feedback. Really appreciated.

Based on your feedback, I went ahead and updated my build. Here it is:

Motherboard ---> Asus P5B Deluxe = $180
CPU ---> E6600 = $318
Video Card ---> GeForce 8800 GTS =$450
Hard Drive ---> Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB = $80
RAM ---> Corsair XMS2 (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400 4-4-4-12, 2.1V = $277
PSU ----> Antec NeoPower NeoHE 550 ATX12V 550W = $115

Monitor ---> Samsung 204BW = $280
Mouse ---> Logitech G5 = $46
Keyboard ---> Logitech G15 = $65
CD/DVD ---> Samsung 18x DVD±R Burner = $33

TOTAL = $1979

Swapped out the memory for some Corsair. Swapped out the Raptor for a Barracuda 7200.10.

The Samsung 204BW is a 20" widescreen. So what else should I go with? Can you give me more info about the Dell option, or can anyone else? Thanks.

Spend more on the monitor, the daddy of the 20" range is the NEC GXW or something like that. Pop over to the video forum for the real model number but the short version is that it's great.

You talkin about this one here? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824002320

NEC Display Solutions 20WMGX2-BK Black-Silver 20.1" 6ms DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor 470 cd/m2 1600:1 Built in Speakers = $603

Tell me you haven't bought it yet, please.

Change that Corsair stuff for something with Micron D9 if you're looking to overclock (and if you're shelling out for something in the price range of Corsair XMS you may as well get better for your money).

This RAM: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=80061-9 (probably same price at newegg or whereever) is guaranteed D9 because Crucial are Mircon's retail wing. Stuff the corsair and stick with that if you're overclocking and you'll get much higher speeds and tighter timings.

Nope, haven't bought yet. My bonus comes in about 2 weeks, so I have a little bit of time to perfect my choices 🙂

I went ahead and took your advice and swapped out that Corsair for some Crucial and changed the Samsung for the NEC 20WMGX2 LCD. Here's the updated list:

Monitor ---> NEC Display Solutions 20WMGX2-BK 20.1" = $603
Motherboard ---> Asus P5B Deluxe = $180
CPU ---> E6600 = $318

OK I updated the original post with my new build.

By the way, I've posted my build on a couple different forums and I seem to be getting a lot of feedback regarding my choice of power supply. Most people seem to question it but then say that it should be "alright". What would be a choice of power supply that is an upgrade from the Antec NeoHE?
