I don't want to because I don't want them to poke my finger 🙁

I'm sorry, but I read your user name and I thought you really were a Man. I guess I was wrong. You should change your name to AstroWomanLuca 🙂

Lame! I know more men with needle issues than women. Don't you foist weaklings upon my gender, keep them where they belong.

I gave blood once, and then the second time I tried to do it they said my iron was too low. Then I got a tattoo, and ever since have been pretty much anemic. So unfortunately, no :\

it's all the menstruation.

I do it every now and then. Problem is I work so i usually only get the phone message by the time the clinic is done, they only do it for 2 days every 6 months, or something like that.

My first time I started to see stars by the end, times after that went 100% well.

I can't, I have teh gay.

you can't give blood because you're gay?

Men who have sex with men are considered a high risk group for hepatitis and HIV so that was the logic way back when they put the ban in. But kind of silly now since HIV rates are similar between groups (I think african american females may be the highest in america actually).

I used to go sporadically but I have been trying to be more regular in donating since they told me one time that the combination of my blood type plus I do not have antibodies for something called CMV, my donations are ideal for babies who need blood. Apparently it's a somewhat rare combination so I have been trying to get there more often.

I've never been good with needles. I gave blood once almost passed out at the end. Apparently turned bone white nurses looked pretty concerned. Last time I had to get blood drawn they took many many vials and I did end up passing out. Bone white again apparently my blood pressure dropped to 80 over 60. Doctor said last time he saw someone like that their heart stopped and he had to resuscitate them. I don't intend to give blood on purpose again.

I have given blood twice now. Both times, I get a letter back stating I tested positive for HIV, which is news to me. They then inform me that they sent my blood to a different, BETTER laboratory, and that I do not have HIV, but that they dont want my blood. So I have been blacklisted from donating blood.

This was at Hoxworth and KY Blood Center.

Wow. Did it freak you the hell out?

Nope. I finally got my first blood test earlier in the summer. Hurt a bit, but having a 3 inch piece of steel stuck in me was what got to me. And it takes so long to draw it all out, so screw it.

 to all those who aren't like me.

I don't get the needle fear... it's nothing, really.

I get bloodwork done every 3 months to make sure I'm not dying and I barely feel it.

When I first read the letter and it said I was positive for HIV, I almost dropped to my knees and cried. But I hastily read the rest of the letter and sighed a huge relief and drank some beer.

In the letter, they requested that I be re-tested, as I have a rare blood type, but that if the same results came back, they'd blacklist me. So I donated blood at work instead of KYBC, and they sent me a similar letter, and they blacklisted me immediately.

I don't mind needles in the arm, it's the ones they poke into my fingertips that get me. Just thinking about it makes me cringe.

Nope, they don't want mine.

Mine either. I miss out on the free cookie and orange juice at the blood drives...

I've had them pester me to donate..."Come on, a big guy like you? You have lots to spare!"
One quick explanation, and they shoo me away quickly...😀

I did about two weeks ago, first time in a year. Had to sit there for nearly half an hour afterwards since I looked a bit pale.
